Whether you’re searching for a peaceful bolthole, a family-friendly vibe or a small site set among a Gironde woodland, they’ve got you covered at Camping Le Maine Blanc, a laidback spot five minutes’ drive from Saint-Christoly-de-Blaye. The site is open all year round and all the pitches have electric hook-ups; they’re also shaded from the heat of the sun by a canopy of trees alive with the gentle chirping of birds. With only a handful of pitches, it’s also a quiet hideaway where you and the kids can chill and enjoy life at your own speed. Foodwise, between mid-June to the end of September, food trucks roll up to sell burgers on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and pizzas on Thursday evenings. The restaurant-bar, with its informal terrace, is also open from June to October. An outdoor swimming pool (open during high season only) will keep families busy, and you can play ping pong or pétanque while younger guests meet the resident ducks, goats and rabbits or let off steam in the playground. Rest time required? Read a book borrowed from reception, or play a board game with the kids.

Liked: Sehr schön angelegt mit einem sehr guten Preis. Kleine Anlage, das ganze Jahr geöffnet.

Disliked: In die Jahre gekommene Sanitäranlagen die erneuerungsbedürftig sind.

Concernant les sanitaires, nous avons prévu de faire des travaux, mais pour ce faire, il faut couper les arrivées d'eaux et donc fermer à la clientèle le temps de les rénover.
Ce qui n'est pas évident car, comme vous l'indiquez, nous sommes ouverts à l'année.

Mais nous allons devoir envisager de fermer le camping à la clientèle de passage, le temps de faire les travaux.

Liked: We were greeted by a lovely host, very friendly. Nice size pitch which was private with hedges on three sides. Very quiet and peaceful. The showers were lovely and warm. The Bordeaux wine in the shop was nice as well .

Disliked: Didn’t dislike anything, although the showers could do with being updated but they were very clean

Liked: Large grassy pitches, excellent free WiFi on the pitch. EHU and water close by. Can collect warm bread, croissants, pain au chocolate from reception after 830am. Log burner in toilet block to keep warm!

Disliked: Although on the map this site is just off the motorway, because of the toll booths you cannot rejoin until the next peage. However this was a 15 minute easy drive with a large caravan along country roads.

Liked: The site was good, not to big and was open at this time of the yes! Restaurant and bar also, but were unable to use it as 1 of us is veggie and it was very limited

Disliked: The only problem was no docs came through to us for check in and who ever or what ever allocated the stands paid no attention to the size of our motor home, this is the second time this week

Liked: Ein gut beheiztes Duschhaus mit heißen Duschen. Sehr freundlicher Empfang. Parzellen großzügig angelegt. Urige Atmosphäre mit freilaufend Ziegen und üppiger Begrünung.

Disliked: Die nahe Autobahn ist laut zu hören.
Der Platz wirkt in der Winterzeit etwas ungepflegt. Das Sanitärhaus hat keine separaten Räume für Männer und Frauen.
Um den Campingplatz keine Infrastruktur, Auto oder Zweiräder sind hier angebracht.

Merci pour votre retour sur l’accueil que vous avez reçu lors de votre séjour et sur la globalité du site.
Nous sommes effectivement à proximité de l'autoroute et il se peut qu'on l'entende un peu plus en fonction des périodes.
Le camping peut paraitre un peu triste de part la saison hivernale et comme vous l'indiquez le bloc sanitaire est commun.
Les différentes infrastructures autour du camping sont quasiment toutes fermées de mi octobre à mi avril.
Nous espérons vous revoir en haute saison, pour que vous puissiez découvrir le paysage différemment et y apprécier les autres services mis à disposition à ce moment.

Liked: Location, quiet, but not too far from motorway. All facilities for motorhomes were fine. We also loved the good hot showers - there was a wood burner keeping the sanitary block cosy. Best of all though was the camp site lady, who was so attentive to everything. She showed me a pitch and asked if it was okay. I don't think I've ever been asked that before in all my years of camping. Pain au chocolat ordered for breakfast the next day. Local wine on sale in the shop - we went for white and of course she had some chilled in the fridge.

Disliked: No dislikes.

Local attractions

Anyone content to while away their time lakeside can wander through pine forest to Lac du Moulin Blanc (20 minutes’ walk), where there’s a sandy beach for soaking up the sun, fishing piers, swimming areas, hiking trails and a bowling alley. Take a picnic to eat on the shore or head to the restaurant for a chilled wine on the terrace. If you’re looking for more sporting action, Natéa (five minutes’ drive) is a 20-hectare park with treetop rope courses, archery boards and the thrills and spills of laser games. Take younger kids to Asso Califourchon (15 minutes), a children’s farm with curious goats, camels and handsome Highland cows to feed, as well as ponies to ride. If you have teens, introduce them to the joys of wakeboarding at Castor Wake Park (20 minutes). Sneak some history into your holiday with a stroll around the Vauban-designed citadel in Blaye, or wander the historic lanes of gorgeous Bourg-sur-Gironde (both 20 minutes), with a spectacular location on the side of the Dordogne River. Wine buffs may want to tour the Cité du Vin in Bordeaux (an hour), where there’s also an intriguing water installation in the monumental Place de la Bourse.

All guests spending the night at the park must present their ID at the reception desk and sign registration forms.
At least one of the party members must be aged 18 or over.

Arrivals and departures

Late arrivals must notify the park as soon as possible. Your booking will be held for 24 hours. After this period the management reserves the right to relet your unit.
No refunds/discounts for inclement weather, late arrivals or early departures.

Dogs

Dogs are not allowed if you are staying in the accommodation units.
Dogs must be kept on leads and supervised at all times.
Guide dogs are allowed on site free of charge.
