  • Peaceful Périgord site next to a lake near Saint-Amand-de-Vergt
  • Bergerac and Périgueux both half an hour's drive away
  • Lake beach with fishing, swimming and watersports on site
Grab yourselves a lovely slice of lakeside life in the Périgord region at Camping Lac de Neufont. As the name suggests, this 13.5-acre site is right on the banks of Lac de Neuf-Font, about five minutes' drive from Saint-Amand-de-Vergt. This location is a real haven of peace – a green space surrounded by woods and access to the lake so guests can fish, swim, paddle or launch pedalos and paddleboards (available to hire on site). There's a spacious sandy beach area by the lake as well, for games, picnics and sunbathing. The lake may well be the highlight, but there are plenty more facilities here for guests – including a play area, a pétanque court and electric bike hire to help you get out and explore the surroundings easily. However you choose to spend your day, you’ll be able to come back to drinks, snacks and meals at the site's bar and café or buy your self-catering supplies in the shop. This site has recently been renovated by the Office Intercommunal du Grand Périgueux, but it's been here since the 1970s – and you can see why the location was originally chosen. It's not all about the lake, as this site is also very well placed for exploring the Périgord region. There are hiking trails just outside the site and plenty of places nearby to sample some of the fabulous food that this region is known for; Bergerac and Périgueux are both about half an hour away by car and excellent places to visit.

Electric optional forest floor motorhome pitch

Liked: What a delightful site, big hardstanding pitches lots of grass between and trees. Views over the lake all well kept. The facilities look new and are superb. Welcome at reception with a small shop. Good WiFi included and very reasonable prices as it is run by the community. We were out of season but told the restaurant is open in sumer.
Beware, on the map there are 2 routs to the site. Use the northern route, the south rout is a long series of farm tracks passable but very bumpy.

Local attractions

As this site is run by the local tourist office, you can be sure that the reception team are always full of great suggestions for places to go and things to see and do nearby. For starters they'll point you to the four hiking trails just outside the site, and the various activities available in the village of Vergt, including the Friday market, the summer music evenings and the various offerings of the Atrium cultural space. For more outdoor adventures, sign up for ziplines and an obstacle course at VergtAventures (15 minutes' drive), go-karting at Garden Karting (25 minutes) or pony rides at Centre Equestre de Bourrou (15 minutes). Animal encounters of a different kind can be found at Parc du Touron (15 minutes), where kids can pet various tame animals. A little further afield, it's well worth visiting both Périgueux and Bergerac – both are about half an hour away by car and have wonderful historic architecture to explore as well as lots of great things to eat and drink.
