- Quiet back to basics site in the far south of Barbados
- A 10-minute drive from Oistins; 25 minutes from central Bridgetown
- Silver Sands beach, shops and bars within a 10-minute walk
Signing up for an adventure on Barbados' Caribbean coastline? Camping Barbados, a small-scale site 10 minutes' walk from the beach, is just the spot for such an escape. With large, leafy plots, spacious grounds and well-kept basic amenities, most folk won't struggle to see themselves chilling out among the palm trees here…
Nor will you have to rack your brains to come up with ideas for filling your days. Lazily drifting back and forth between base and Silver Sands beach is certainly one option you'll want to exploit – perhaps pausing to pick up drinks and snacks at the bars and food shops en route – but when you feel ready to explore further afield it's also easy to venture out to spots as diverse as Barbados Golf Club (10 minutes' drive), the bustling streets of Bridgetown (25 minutes) or Harrison's Cave (40 minutes).
The people who run this place have been sorting outdoor hols on the island since 2015. After years in the business they know all there is to know about getting your luggage from A to B, organising top guided tours and dropping off essentials at your pitch ready for your arrival. As far as facilities are concerned, Camping Barbados keeps things environmentally friendly with a composting loo; there are also showers on hand for washing away any sand you've inevitably brought back from Silver Sands beach (10 minutes' walk).

Local attractions
It wouldn’t be a weekend away if you didn’t have a trip to Oistins (10 minutes’ drive) – this is where Barbados comes to party on Friday and Saturday evenings, with dancing, music, craft stalls and of course the delights of the freshly cooked seafood dinners.
Miami beach, just outside Oistins, is worth a trip too – its white sands are quite stunning. A little closer to home, Silver Sands (10 minutes’ walk) is the place for kitesurfing, paddleboarding and surfing nearby. For other sporting endeavours, play a round at the Barbados Golf Club (10 minutes’ drive), get combative at Paintball Concepts (15 minutes) or see if you can catch a game of cricket at the Kensington Oval (half an hour).
The island’s capital Bridgetown (25 minutes) is always worth a stroll, or you may like to head up to the centre of the island to see the limestone stalagmites and stalactites that lurk underground at Harrison’s Cave Eco-Adventure Park (40 minutes). Meanwhile, those who like their drinks can see them in production at the Banks Beer Brewery Tour (10 minutes) and the Mount Gay Visitor Centre (25 minutes).
