Amp up your Austrian hol by staying at the lovely Lakeside Petzen Glamping, a spot sandwiched between the eastern Karawanks mountains, a fab forest and a big body of water in the country’s South Carinthia region. While you may peer at the pics of this park and think nothing could top the surrounding landscapes, the amenities sure do give them a run for their money. There is a restaurant with an outdoor terrace suspended above Lake Pirkdorfer for drinking in the view as you dine on Austrian cuisine. The extras available at this park are also mighty appealing: think a daily breakfast basket delivered straight to your door, and paddleboards and pedal boats for hire. Swims are fantastic here too – the lake is one of the warmest in Europe for bathing, with water so clean it’s considered to be of drinking quality. Being in a rural area, this park is also close to biking and hiking routes catering to various levels, including those at the 2,125-metre-high Mount Petzen, just over a five-minute drive away. As the site is open all year round, ventures to the Völkermarkt are possible in colder as well as warmer weather, with skiing slopes to seek out on Petzen when snow's falling. Got energetic young travellers with you? The playground should tire them out come rain or shine.

Absolut traumhafter Blick über den See auf die Berge!

Besuch des Restaurants, welches nur wenige Schritte vom Stellplatz entfernt ist, unbedingt zu empfehlen! Spitzenküche zu sehr moderaten Preisen!
Jeden Tag gibt es ein fantastisches Menü mit regionalen Speisen.

Disliked: Sanitäreinrichtungen zwar sauber, aber sehr in die Jahre gekommen....

Da sollte dringend investiert werden!

Liked: Met de ligging aan het meer en het uitzicht.
De wc’s en douche ruimtes waren netjes en schoon.

Disliked: Op de site wordt volop geadverteerd met de glamping en faciliteiten, er wordt alleen niet op de site vermeld dat de glamping niet toegankelijk is voor de campinggasten die een staanplaats huren. De glamping is volledig afgesloten en alleen toegankelijk met speciale polsbandjes. Dit hadden ze op zijn minst kunnen vermelden op de website. Zonder alle extra faciliteiten vonden wij het een redelijk prijzige camping.

Liked: All the people in service were nice and helpful. We were also massively helped to succesfully resolve our car issue.
Mountains and overall stay are surely calming and refreshing, but the people are what matters most.

Disliked: Despite of the variety of accomodation we chose the most challenging - sleeping in a tent among crowded caravans. It is definitelly the least private option plus having no way to prep food ourselves. Something to learn.

Not had enough of loping round lakes? Then it's good news: there are six more to visit within a 20-kilometre radius of this pretty park placed near the Austrian-Slovenian border. If you’d rather cycle than walk, trails in the area include the family-friendly Steinerberg, the underground road on the Slovenian side of Petzen mountain and the scenic path next to the Drau river. And for culture? Wander around the Werner Berg Museum (10 minutes’ drive) to see works of the eponymous artist, or meander towards the Museum Liaunig (20 minutes) for its ever-changing art displays. Other places to add to the agenda include the Freizeitanlagen Walderlebniswelt Klopeiner (20 minutes), an adventure centre in a forest, and the Vogelpark Turnersee bird park (25 minutes). There’s also the highest viewing tower in the world – the Pyramidenkogel Tower at Wörther See (an hour and five minutes) – and the miniature models at Minimundus (45 minutes). In colder weather, get going on a guided snowshoe trip on Hochobir (25 minutes), slide down Mount Petzen on a sledge, or just wander through the wintry landscape. To escape from the chill, relax in the KärntenTherme Warmbad-Villach baths (an hour and five minutes) or get the kids warm in the Freizeitanlagen Walderlebniswelt Klopeiner indoor playground.

Admission

Admission is only permitted after registering at reception.
All guests spending the night at the park must present their ID at the reception desk and sign registration forms.
At least one of the party members must be aged 18 or over.
Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Arrivals and departures

Late arrivals must notify the park as soon as possible. Your booking will be held for 24 hours. After this period the management reserves the right to relet your unit.
No refunds/discounts for inclement weather, late arrivals or early departures.
Units will be allocated on arrival.

Dogs

Dogs are not allowed if you are staying in the accommodation units.
Dogs are prohibited from main facilities and amenities.
