  • Peaceful South Queensland site 10 minutes’ drive from Noosa Beach
  • Maroochydore shopping, restaurants and nightlife 15 minutes’ drive
  • Private golf course and sports facilities at a 25-acre wildlife haven
Endless free tennis and golf available. Golf buggies to hire if you want to explore 25 acres of rainforest. A mango, avocado and lychee plantation to explore. Less than 10 minutes’ drive to the famed surfing beaches at Noosa, and five minutes from Diddillibah. All this – and plenty more – is yours when you check into Sunshine Coast Retreat in South Queensland. At this quiet hideaway you can play on the private nine-hole golf course, have a family knock-around on the tennis court, and play pickleball, football or cricket on the vast sports field. There’s plenty of shade for hotter days, and if you’re keen to do nothing very much at all, put together a barbecue at the communal grill and eat it by the peaceful creek. The site owners are deeply committed to preserving their property’s untamed vibe, keeping it a small and exclusive affair where guests are free to stroll and immerse themselves in the natural beauty of unspoilt bush, home to ancient trees and lush wildlife including eels, frogs and fish. If you’re looking for a bit more Sunshine Coast action, there’s shopping in Maroochydore (15 minutes’ drive), which also has surfing beaches, deep-sea fishing trips and a jumping nightlife in Ocean Street restaurants and bars.

Local attractions

As well as guided bush walks taking place at Sunshine Coast Retreat, you can hike through rainforest at Maroochy Regional Bushland Botanic Garden, where there’s also a contemporary sculpture trail. Buderim Forest Bushland Conservation Reserve Core has boardwalk trails leading to spectacular waterfalls, and for a different perspective on nature, you can zoom through the tree canopy by zipwire at TreeTop Challenge Big Pineapple (all 15 minutes’ drive). With pristine sands and crystal-clear waters, there are plenty of Sunshine Coast beaches for soaking up the sun, swimming or enjoying watersports like surfing, paddleboarding and kayaking. Hot spots include the sandy beaches at Noosa (10 minutes), dune-backed Mudjimba (15 minutes) and quieter Kawana (20 minutes), also known for its spectacular sunsets. If you’re looking for souvenirs of your South Queensland stay, make a beeline for the craft and farmers’ markets around Noosa, where stalls are packed with artisan jewellery, indigenous artworks and organic local produce.
