  • Dog-friendly rural site on a working north Pembrokeshire farm
  • A 15-minute drive from Newport; lots of local walks to choose from
  • Five minutes' drive from a popular local pub; 20 mins to Fishguard
Making your way to Pembrokeshire for walks, beaches, cliffs and countryside galore? Look to Gwaun Valley Camping, part of a working north Pembrokeshire farm in a scenic valley with native pasture land where guests can experience hands-on holidays. Enjoy a picnic by your pitch and stroll off onto footpaths and bridleways as you please. Farm life carries on as usual around you and you’re in the front-row seat. Here, you might want to track down local woodland and mountain walks. There are streams and waterfalls nearby, as well as a pub 45 minutes’ walk away (or a five-minute drive if you’d rather give your feet a rest). There are also plenty of places to taste the local fodder in the local towns and villages. If you’re particularly keen to sample the local alcoholic brews, there are two microbreweries a short drive away too. Handily, the coast isn’t far off. Fishguard, known for its seafood cuisine and fort, is 20 minutes’ drive away and there are coastal hikes and beaches within 20 minutes’ drive of the site. As this is a dog-friendly site, your canine can join you on your adventures – whatever they might be.

Non-electric grass and earth touring pitch

Liked Peace and quiet and the location is fabulous. Our second visit and again we had the campsite to ourselves apart from one night. Some lovely walking on coast, up Carningli and in the vaey. Also great area if you like megalithic stones ;) it is a very basic campsite with one toilet and shower so wouldn't be great if much busier.

Disliked It would be good if there was a washing up area and campers fridge facilities. Additional toile/shower would be good. However we love it here so it was not an issue for us.

From the manager: Sharing fridge now available.
Sink washup also !

Non-electric grass and earth touring pitch

Liked Fantastic campsite, clean, small, quiet, friendly and idea if you love nature and want peace and quiet. Loads of space from other campers. The owner was a fantastic host who pointed out local things to do and see. Next time we might take you up on your offer to view the viewpoint on your quad 👌

Disliked Could have done with a sink or wash station for cleaning saucepans, cutlery, cups, plates. Other than that, it was spot on.

Local attractions

If you’re not one to shy away from the bigger hikes, Dinas Mountain (15 minutes' drive) is one gorgeous setting. Keep your eyes peeled for wild ponies, red kites and buzzards as you climb. Just as active days can be had on the coast with less hiking involved. Perhaps coasteering along to the stunning Blue Lagoon (40 minutes)? Kayaking along the coast by Fishguard (20 minutes), followed by some local seafood or crab sandwiches? Fishing or beach paddling in Cardigan (25 minutes)? Historical sites are in good supply too, with the neolithic tomb at the Pentre Ifan Burial Chamber (15 minutes) and the Iron Age roundhouses at Castell Henllys Iron Age Village (15 minutes). If you’re after a ride – of one kind or the other – head for the rollercoasters at the Oakwood Theme Park (40 minutes) or Llys-y-fran Reservoir (half an hour), where visitors can captain a watersports vessel of their choosing.
