  • Quiet, spacious site on a hill above the village of Kilgetty
  • Fabulous views over the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park
  • Set on 10 acres of mature and well-kept grounds
Surrounded by the gorgeous green countryside of west Wales, Ryelands Holiday Park is a splendid spot for a peaceful Pembrokeshire retreat. From this hilltop position above the village of Kilgetty, you’ll have fabulous views over the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park – and of one of its main attractions too. Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo is less than half a mile away, and you’ll be able to see it from the campsite to ramp up the excitement ahead of your visit. That’s not the only attraction that’s easy to get to from this handy base – places like Manor Wildlife Park, Wild Lakes Wales and the award-winning Heatherton World of Activities are all about 10 minutes’ drive away. For beach days, the ever-popular towns of Tenby and Saundersfoot are just a few miles away too. Set within 10 acres of mature, well-maintained grounds, there’s plenty of space at Ryelands Holiday Park to relax and unwind or enjoy a kickabout. A small play area is also available for the little ones. The on-site amenities block has been completely refurbished and upgraded for the 2025 season following visitor feedback, with high-quality toilets, hot showers and washing facilities, all cleaned daily. Firepits and wood are also available for those who want to enjoy a cosy evening outdoors under the stars. For essentials or a quick bite, Kilgetty village is only half a mile away with takeaways, a fish and chip shop, a cosy pub, a well-stocked supermarket and a post office. The village is also home to an award-winning restaurant with a butcher and fishmonger inside (something tasty for your barbecue, perhaps?). The village also has train and bus links to help you explore the stunning Pembrokeshire coastline and countryside easily.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: The view was great, the grounds were well kept and there was plenty of space. The site was easy to find and the owners were attentive and helpful, it was nice to receive a message prior to arrival explaining exactly where to go to find where to set up camp. The firepit starter kit was the perfect addition to our camping stay.

It would be a great addition if there was a small shop for camping essentials/food to allow guests to stay onsite without the need to go looking for amenities if not familiar with the area but in NO way does this negatively impact the campsite.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: We went for a long weekend over Easter with our children, the owner met us when we got there and was super friendly and helpful! We pitched up close to the swings and tunnel, which the kids loved playing on and kept them busy on our chill times. There is also a little climbing frame with a slide which the kids loved down the other end of the pitch and enough space for them to play outside. The shower facilities were lovely and clean too. It is alsp close to shops and food places. All in all it was a brilliant place to stay and we are very excited to stay again!!

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: Stayed here on a number of occasions and always left 5 star reviews. The site is in a good location and nice and quiet which i like. I have said previously that facilities need updating but did used to be clean.

Disliked: The price has gone up quite a bit yet no improvements have been made to site (other than some hardstanding pitches which made no difference to us in tents.) The toilets, showers and washing up facilities are really old. The taps in the toilets are so stiff hardly any of them work. I have said this in previous reviews but i didnt mind so much as the old wardens Andy & Dianne were constantly cleaning them. I stayed 7 nights on this occasion and seen the toilets being cleaned once by the female warden and once where a caravan owner had taken matters into her own hands and cleaned the shower before she used it. I seen the male warden once cutting the grass when we arrived. Andy & Dianne were very friendly and welcoming and i feel they made Ryelands a better campsite. The park isnt very good, the facilities arent good, we had to collect our own firepit and walk it back to the tent (in previous years they were handed out by andy). I paid £315 for 3 adults and 1 child for 7 nights with no electric. After booking I priced another site we stay at yearly that has 2 parks, a swimming pool, a pub, cafe, shop, launderette and fantastic washing up and toilet facilities with electric hook up just to see the price as i thought it would be astronomical if this was the price at Ryelands, it was actually £10 per night cheaper. Unfortunately I dont think the price charged reflects the actual facilities on the campsite. The price being charged for a patch of grass with these facilities is absolutely outrageous. The other people we came with feel the same. I also spoke with caravan owners who agree the site has gone downhill.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: Large, mostly flat site with decent shower and WC block. Soft ground to pitch tent pegs easily and very good large refuse and recycling bins. Well-mowed grass. Close to some great beaches.

Disliked: Unfortunately a dog barked for hours in the middle of the night about 10 paces from our tent which set off other dogs barking. Bizarrely no-one attempted to pacify the dog, so my four-hour drive the next day was even worse through lack of sleep.
The children's play area was a bit poor. My kids were looking forward to playing there but when they saw it they couldn't be bothered.

Local attractions

Just behind the site’s field is access to the Miners’ Walk of south Pembrokeshire, the circular trail to and from Kilgetty that winds past old industrial sites of the area. Leave Ryelands Holiday Park and stroll downhill through woodland for 40 minutes or so to join the famed Pembrokeshire Coast Path at the Wisemans Bridge pub – obviously with a stop-off first for a supper at the inn garden and its smashing views over Carmarthen Bay… Indoor and outdoor attractions and activities of all flavours are within a five-mile radius of the site, such as family days out at Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo (five minutes’ drive) and the Blue Lagoon Water Park (10 minutes). The sands and sea of handsome seaside town Saundersfoot are 10 minutes’ drive away too. Slightly further afield are more family days at Heatherton World of Activities (15 minutes), and the beaches of Tenby (15 minutes) are along the coast.
