Our brand new hot tub under the stars

  • Glamping pod near the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park
  • Within a 25 minute-drive of award-winning Mwnt beach
  • Four-acre smallholding with private wood-fired hot tub (no bubbles)
Castles, coast walks and cathedral cities… you can see the lot from this top spot. Blaencwm Cottages has a single glamping pod on a four-acre smallholding a short drive away from the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and the pubs, shops, tearooms, theatre, cinema and leisure centre of Cardigan. Winner of awards, heaped with accolades by travel writers and simply loved by legions of visitors every year, the sheltered bay, soft sands and clear waters of Mwnt beach are a 25-minute drive away: bring binoculars and you might spot some of the dolphins, seals and porpoises who adopted it as their top spot a long time ago. If you want to get closer to the marine life, make the 40-minute trip to New Quay for a sea safari, but if you're more into wave riding than nature watching it's about an hour to the surfers' hotspot on the Pembrokeshire coast, Newgale. Back at base, Blaencwm is a hugely scenic spot to settle down in for a spell, with views of the Pembrokeshire countryside and the Preseli Hills, including a duck pond (with resident ducks) and peaceful surroundings for wildlife watching. The pod has its own shower and toilet, along with a barbecue and mini kitchen (with kettle, microwave and toaster) but please note that bed linen and duvet is only provided for the double bed (if you want to use the sofa bed you'll need to bring extras).

Ty Cnocell camping pod (hot tub)

Liked: The cabin is really well equipped so you don't need to bring to much with you. The owners are really friendly and welcoming and incredibly prompt when it came to any requests from us. We had our children wish us and they can become a bit noisy so, the way the cabin is placed is perfect. It is literally the perfect place to relax. The hot tub was the perfect addition to our holiday and our family enjoyed it fully. Overall the experience was amazing, we had a lot of fun and the place is totally worth visiting. We booked our third visit there and looking forward to it.

Ty Cnocell camping pod (hot tub)

Liked: Fantastic place , Steve had hot tub sorted every night , Donkeys greet you mornings and when you get home, location just right to visit plenty of Wales , castles, beaches but far enough away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. We stayed in the pod and took our dog with us, he loved it too , and most of the places in Wales are also becoming Dog friendly which is a massive bonus to us. We plan to return later in the year it was that good!

Ty Cnocell camping pod (hot tub)

Liked: Everything at the pod in the cottage was fantastic. The service was excellent, the accomodation was beautiful and cosy. Nothing was to much for the owners and they were extremely pleasant. The hot tub was amazing and allowed for stargazing under the moonlight. We will definitely be returning, the donkeys in the field next to the pod are a brilliant added bonus. The whole stay was lovely and relaxing. Everything you need is provided and the facilities are modern and very good

Ty Cnocell camping pod (hot tub)

Liked: From start to finish our stay at Blaencwm was fantastic. We stayed in Ty Cnocell, the wooden hut with a hot tub. Our hosts Alison and Steve were welcoming, super friendly and approachable.
They have thought of everything in terms of facilities in and around the hut. We managed to make and have a few meals in the kitchen area no problem and ate both inside and out at the tables comfortably. There were plenty of utensils cutlery etc for us all.
We loved that the bathroom was within the pod too which was clean with a great shower!
There is heating but even during October we didn't need it on at all really, the pod is lovely and cosy.
The area immediately around the hut is fully enclosed, which was great for our dog and us as we could let him off lead.
The Hottub is a joy and easier than we expected to fire up, Alison and Steve provide excellent guidance with this. We enjoyed it even night we were there even during light rain and the view of the stars was just phenomenal!
The hut and area around had been decorated for Halloween which we all loved especially my daughter! Such lovely touches.
The highlight for us was the lovely Donkeys in the field alongside the hut!! They have such funny little personalities. We had a lot of fun with Hettie, Dudley and their Mama Miss Ellie and were looking forward to vising them and Ty Cnocell again soon.

Ty Cnocell camping pod (hot tub)

Liked: Absolutely loved our stay here. Alison and Steve were lovely hosts and met us on arrival. Steve had prepped the hot tub so it was ready for us and the kids were able to get in straight away. We even called Alison and Steve on the second day of our stay and they lit the fire for the hot tub while we were travelling home from a long day out, so it was ready for us when we got back - we were incredibly grateful for this!

The pod was lovely and having WiFi was brilliant as we had no phone signal. There was a very helpful folder with lots of leaflets for ideas on where to go and where to eat. There was a bottle of local milk, free range eggs and Welsh cakes which was a lovely touch! We had a BBQ on both nights of our stay so the fridge was very handy and it even had a tiny little freezer compartment just big enough for a box of potato waffles, which our kids love.

The kids were fascinated with the donkeys and loved feeding them grass. It was lovely watching the kids play in the pod's enclosed garden and watching them talk to the donkeys.
You get a lot for your money with Ty Cnocell and we would love to return one day in the future!

I recommended Ty Cnocell to a work friend who has now booked for August with her children.

From the manager: Many thanks for your lovely review and glad you enjoyed your stay. Just wondering (for our own education) what let us down slightly on "child friendliness", as many of our guests bring children of all ages with them and have been very happy with this.

Ty Cnocell camping pod (hot tub)

Liked: Owners were so friendly and we were greeted with a lovely welcome gift of home made cake, fresh eggs from their chickens and fresh milk.

The children absolutely loved waking up and rushing out to see the donkeys both mornings and the garden was also secure and closed off so had no worries of them wandering off.

The hut was spotless and supplied with everything we could need and the hot tub was also spotless.

The hot tub had been set up ready for us also!

Would 100% book again.

Thank you for a lovely weekend!

Local attractions

Building sandy castles on the beach is all well and good, but you can also bag a good half-dozen of the real thing round here: forever swapping hands until it was finally abandoned in 1400, Cilgerran Castle is a 10-minute drive away; it's 15 minutes to the crackingly well-restored Cardigan Castle, and 20 to the 13th-century ruins up at Newcastle Emlyn. If you want to take yourself back in time a little further, make for Castell Henllys, 15 minutes away, where you can experience Iron Age life in a replica roundhouse village. There's more recent history to be explored and experienced at National Trust Llanerchaeron 50 minutes away, where the 18th-century villa and walled gardens are accompanied by a traditional working farm. For thrill rides, high ropes and high-octane activities topped off with pettable furry animals and exotic beasts, the family-friendly trio of Oakwood Theme Park, Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo and Heatherton World of Activities are half an hour, 40 minutes and an hour away. Quieter times can be had wandering the coastline, joining up with the Pembrokeshire Coast Path just north of Poppit Sands 20 minutes away, or strolling the streets and cathedral of ancient St. Davids, officially the UK's smallest city and an hour from the site.
