  • Quiet relaxing farm site, with gardens and fields to roam
  • Walking distance to the village with grocery shops, bakery and chemist
  • In an area of very low light pollution, 15 mins' drive from Lampeter
Stays in stunning Carmarthenshire countryside on a lush green site with ample room to laze about for days on end are yours for the taking at Penrhiwsych – perhaps time to start perusing the pics… This peaceful and laidback farm park, just under a mile from Llanybydder village’s grocery shops, bakery and pharmacy, has colourful flowers and lots of space to roam: guests are most welcome to amble around the fields and gardens making up the grounds. It’s a top spot when night falls too, as it's in an area of very little light pollution – barbecues are allowed at the park, so settle in for stargazing alongside supper. Pitch up here to wander the local terrain and the shops and museums of Lampeter, 15 minutes' drive away, or use the farm as a base for holidays around Carmarthenshire and the coast; Aberaeron and Cardigan Bay are half an hour’s drive from here, and in the other direction it’s 45 minutes to hikes and outdoor adventures in the Brecon Beacons National Park. Closer by on foot are friendly local pubs – ask the Penrhiwsych team for recommendations if you fancy spending some of your stay sipping local ales. You might also check in with them for tip-offs on which food festivals, beer festivals and shows (including dog shows and trials, country shows and motor racing) are held in the area throughout the year too. Penrhiwsych has a toilet block and washing-up area, and dogs are welcome in the grounds.

Liked: This site has everything we look for in a campsite, as a family who needs to slow down unwind and relax away from home penrhiwsych offered us all these things. Electric optional grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Everything was faultless. Steve and Di could not accommodate us and the children more! The spot itself is just beautiful, quiet and very relaxing! Will definitely be returning again soon!

Added extra we could purchase a selection of plants and also home made jams and chutneys for a very reasonable price!

Thank you again!

Local attractions

There’s much to do within an hour’s drive, from traipsing around the Welsh Cae Hir Gardens – with a bit of Dutch history thrown into the mix (15 minutes’ drive) – to panning for precious metals at the Roman-era Dolaucothi Gold Mine (25 minutes). It’s also not far from the coast: dolphin-spotting boat trips leave from New Quay, 35 minutes away, and the town of Cardigan edges the big bay of the same name for coastal walks with epic views. Other famed urban areas close by are Carmarthen (35 minutes), the start-off point for rides on the antique Gwili Steam Railway through gorgeous west Wales countryside, and Aberystwyth (50 minutes’ drive). Eat fish and chips on the harbour in front of the colourful townhouses here, then dawdle over to The National Library of Wales, the biggest in Wales housing more than 6.5 million books and periodicals. If that sounds a bit too stuffy, the sweeping landscapes of Snowdonia National Park are an hour and 20 minutes to the north.
