  • Small modern motorhome park on the edge of Pendine village
  • A five-minute walk from Pendine Sands and Museum of Land Speed
  • Fully serviced hardstanding pitches; dogs welcome
Pendine Sands is famed as the location for several land speed records – and it’s likely you’ll want to get a move on with booking when you see the location of Hafan Y Mor Motorhome Park. This small but well-equipped Carmarthenshire motorhome park is on the edge of the village of Pendine, looking out over green space to the sea beyond. That stunning seven-mile stretch of sand (where Malcolm Campbell and Parry Thomas set their world records) is about five minutes’ walk away, with rock pools to poke about in and coast path walks to show you some more of the scenery. The beach is patrolled by lifeguards in summer so it’s a good place for a family beach day. This is an excellent location for a coastal break – as well as being so close to the beach, the park also has lots of handy village facilities within a few minutes walk, including cafés, pubs and shops. The village has a playground and an activity centre that can help you organise watersports, surf lessons and land-based activities like archery. The Museum of Land Speed is a short walk away as well, and there are often races or events held on the beach (Hot Rod racing, motocross and even the odd world record attempt…) Things have been kept nice and simple on site – it’s a self-check-in site with key code entry and well-marked hardstanding pitches. Each pitch has an electric connection and a picnic table, and there are chemical disposal and motorhome service points to help keep your vehicle in working order.

Electric hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked: The site was in a great location, approx 200m from the beach, a couple of fish and chip shops, a pub and 3 small shops all in close proximity. The site was very clean easy to find, we were in a large mobile home and there was loads of space between pitches so made maneuvering easy, plenty of space for chais and tables. A dog friendly site with facilities including electric, water and disposal for toilet.

Disliked: Next to road and opposite a large holiday home site so a little noisy early evening. No shower block for those that might need (we didn’t)

Electric hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked: Really great new 'continental style' aire. Convenient location easy walking distance to pubs, shops, beach and museum of speed. Easy to book online.

Disliked: When you book online you get a confirmation email, buried in the long email is an instruction to phone one of 2 numbers to get the access code for the barrier. You phone the numbers and just get a standard voicemail saying to leave a message leaving you mystified how you will get in and how long you'll be waiting at the barrier. It actually took only about 5 minutes for a text to come through with the code. Why can't there be a message when you ring which says 'we've received your call, the code will be sent to you by text within 5 minutes'. Also if English wasn't your first language, the whole process is a bit confusing.

Electric hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked: Easy access, good location, excellent price, will return, but will use a space further away from the road.

Disliked: Nothing to dislike. Road was busy hence next time I will choose a space furthest from the road. But I'm used to very rural areas, so anyone else might well find it quiet.

Electric hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked: Clean, well maintained, large handstanding and grassed area. It is next to the main road, but was not noisy enough to disturb our sleep. Would definitely return. There are no staff, but you are provided with contact details should the need arise. Shops, pubs, cafes, restaurants and beach within 2 - 10 minute walk.

Disliked: Wi-Fi available when we arrived Fri night, but not available thereafter.

Electric hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked: Park is exceptionally clean and tidy, nicely laid out and very well positioned forPendine’s facilities

Disliked: Lack of toilets and shower facilities are disappointing in an otherwise well appointed park.
The cost is a little high for single travellers but good value for a couple or even better a family of 4 .
A discount for single travellers would be great, however as the facility is basically unstaffed(I have stayed more than 10 times and have yet to see a staff member) it would be difficult to administer

Local attractions

A stroll around the Museum of Land Speed (five minutes’ walk) is a must – even if you’re not particularly into cars, the interactive exhibits bring to life the stories of the various world records that have been set or attempted here. Although you probably won’t be attempting any of your own land-speed records, there are plenty of options around this area for outdoor adventures. Morfa Bay Adventure (20 minutes’ walk) is a great hub for coasteering, surfing and other watersports, or you could gallop around the area on outings from Marros Riding Centre (five minutes’ drive) or try all sorts of activities (including go-karting, archery and adventure golf) at Heatherton World of Activities (25 minutes). Other days out nearby might take you to Laugharne (10 minutes) for the castle and Dylan Thomas Writing Shed, to Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo (20 minutes) for animal encounters, to Carew Castle & Tidal Mill (25 minutes) for a heritage-themed stroll or to Tenby (half an hour) for some more excellent beaches and boat trips.
