  • No-frills, family-friendly touring site on Glamorgan’s Gower Peninsula
  • Oxwich Bay Beach 15 minutes’ drive and Mumbles 25 minutes
  • Loughor Estuary views from the well-kept camping field; horses on site
Looking to escape the crowds, but still be within easy reach of the coast for a laidback family break on the Gower? You can do just that at Glamorgan’s Crickton Farm Camping, a back-to-basics touring spot that may have minimal facilities (no electricity or showers) but does have far-reaching views over the Loughor Estuary and plenty of space on the well-kept, level camping field for kids and adults alike to have a run around. The site is located next to a working livery yard, so you can say hello to the horses on your morning stroll. There are two pubs and a village shop within 10 minutes’ walk, and a larger shopping area with a supermarket, fish bar and cafés in Crofty (15 minutes’ drive). The site is also within easy reach of an array of beaches, with Oxwich Bay and Whiteford Sands both 15 minutes by car. If you fancy a night out, Mumbles (25 minutes’ drive) on Swansea Bay is a pleasant spot for an evening stroll and meal.

Non-electric grass touring pitch

Liked Peaceful. Lots of space. Stunning views. Hosts were really approachable helpful and friendly.

Disliked Wouldn’t stop me coming again but a toilet. Even if a portaloo and some bins would be a great touch.

Expensive for a field with long grass.

Liked View

Disliked Road noise and it was just a field with disposal and a tap.
Grass was long, and had been cut recently so grass cuttings got everywhere.

Ease of booking via Pitchup, quiet location.…

Non-electric grass touring pitch

Liked Ease of booking via Pitchup, quiet location.

Disliked Didn't feel particularly secure, although I think I did see CCTV. Felt as though I might as well have saved the money and gone off-grid.

Asked for payment again, despite already having made the payment already.

Non-electric grass touring pitch

Liked Easy to get to, was a pleasant view and peaceful enough spot to stay for a night.

Disliked Not so much a dislike, rather an observation, it is just a field, so the price is a little high given other sites with facilities charge less/same price. But obviously the choice was mine to book to stay.

Literally a field with no amenities, which suited me just fine!
