  • Family-run site in a central location on the Isle of Anglesey
  • Five minutes' drive from Llangefni; beaches within 15 minutes
  • Secure play area and dog park on site; nature reserve next door
It’s hard to say which part of Anglesey is the best – it’s a very scenic place, and pretty much the entire island is worth visiting. If you’d like to take in as much as possible, it’s a sensible move to choose a central location like that of Bryn Hyfryd Campsite. This family-run site is surrounded by open countryside about five minutes’ drive from the central Anglesey village of Llangefni (a handy place to find shops, pubs, cafés, takeaways and the like). The Dingle nature reserve – with a lake, reservoir and wildlife to see – is just next to the site, and there’s access to footpaths and cycling trails nearby for local exploring. When you’re ready to head out to other parts of the island, you’ll have choices in every direction. Nothing’s too far away when you’re staying at this site – even the furthest points such as Cemaes Bay (west) and Penmon (east) are about half an hour’s drive away. That puts all sorts of outings within reach, whether you fancy finding a sandy beach, taking a walk along the coast path, visiting a castle or taking the kids to one of the island’s family attractions. Speaking of the kids, you’ll be able to keep them busy on site at the secure play area. Dogs are welcome on site as well, and have another secure, fenced area where they can run around and play freely. Other facilities on site include washing-up areas and clean showers and toilets.

What customers say

This is a small, quiet, and friendly campsite, praised for its clean facilities, level pitches, and proximity to local attractions and beaches. Many visitors highlight the helpful and welcoming owners, particularly Emma. The site is considered ideal for families with young children and dog owners, featuring a play area and a dog field. While generally well-received, some guests noted a lack of hot water for washing up and basic toilet/shower facilities. Occasional RAF plane noise was also mentioned.

Electric grass and gravel touring pitch

Liked Small site well spaced hard standing pitches with lovely grass area.
Peaceful and easy to drive into from main road. Good level pitch. Staff friendly and very helpful..

Disliked The toilet/showers. Smelt of drains and floor flood with water when showering leaving it very slippy. Best wear flipflops.
Wash up sink had no hot water and chemical toilet disposal right next to dishwashing sink.

Electric grass tent pitch

Liked Spent 3 nights here. Lovley central location. Reservoir right on the doorstep. Peaceful site and the weather was definitely on our side making it even more enjoyable. Owners came round to introduce themselves and offer assistance if needed. Very friendly. Electric did trip once but telephoned owner who quickly sent someone to sort it.

Disliked Pot washing area had only cold water but just nipped into the shower/toilet block next door and filled washing up bowl with hot water from the tap there.

Electric grass and gravel touring pitch

Liked Each pitch had plenty of space, with hard standing for the caravan and a grass area with a picnic bench. When we arrived we just needed to phone Emma to let her know we'd arrived, and we could choose our pitch from the ones available.
The water, bins and recycling were easily accessible and the toilets and showers were nice and clean.
There is a small play area which the boys enjoyed and a nice walk, through the trees, to the reservoir, which you can walk all the way round. We didn't quite have time to go all the way round but did enjoy walking some of it.

Emma was always on hand, via the phone, if we needed her, which we didn't but it was good to know we could get hold of her if needed.

We had a lovely stay and would definitely recommend if you're looking for a small, quiet site.

Disliked Nothing at the campsite, just Google maps took us past the site entrance to a nearby house (I didn't see the entrance in time to turn). Not a problem as the locals helped us turn round . The site entrance is marked with signs so just keep your eyes out and don't go whizzing past 😂

Electric grass tent pitch

Liked Kids park and dog field were great. Pitch was nice and green and spacious. Ten minute drive to nearest village and takeaways.

Disliked Site is on a hill which isn't ideal if your camping although it wasn't too steep it did affect the balance of some things. Clearly a drainage problem going on as the bathrooms constantly had an awful smell even after cleaning. Wasn't too pleased to find that the cleaning area was directly next to the chemical disposal point so whilst you were washing your dishes someone else was emptying their toilet 😫

Electric grass tent pitch

Liked A lovely friendly little campsite. Very dog friendly with a basic playground for children. It's a great location for exploring the island of Anglesey. It's a quiet location with no noisy roads nearby. Facilities are fine with a dish washing sink and showers and toilets.

Disliked Hot water would be nice to wash dishes and expanding the play area to include a climbing frame and slide would make it even better.

Local attractions

As Anglesey is an island, it’s got a lot of coastline to explore – 130 miles, in fact, with a coast path running all the way along the edge for those that like long seaside walks. Along the coast, some of the top spots to seek out are Beaumaris Castle (25 minutes’ drive), South Stack Lighthouse (half an hour) and the gorgeous Ynys Llanddwyn (half an hour), an atmospheric tidal island dedicated to Wales’ patron saint of love. There are beaches galore, too – sandy Benllech (15 minutes) and Rhosneigr (20 minutes) are great for family days out, Trearddur Bay (20 minutes) is a top spot for watersports, and Porth Wen (25 minutes) has some intriguing industrial ruins to explore. Don’t neglect the inland areas though – Parys Mountain Copper Mine (15 minutes) is a particularly fine place for a walk, with trails running through the colourful landscape of a former copper mine. You might also like to see what’s on at Anglesey Showground (five minutes) – as well as major events, it hosts a car boot sale most Sundays.
