  • Small and scenic Llŷn Peninsula site, 15 mins' drive from Pwllheli
  • Tre'r Ceiri Hillfort five minutes' drive; 20 minutes to Abersoch
  • Dog-friendly site with dark skies for excellent stargazing
Families, couples, small groups, solo travellers, dog owners… there’s a warm Welsh welcome for all guests at this small site on the Llŷn Peninsula. In a rural location about 15 minutes’ drive from Pwllheli, Tyn on the Llyn Campsite is a scenic spot with gorgeous views of the surrounding landscapes, particularly at sunset. Being well away from any urban light pollution, there’s often also some spectacular stargazing to be done here on clear nights. Just the thing for some time spent appreciating the power of nature… To help preserve this fantastic location, facilities here are as eco-friendly as possible, with compost toilets, renewable energy and recycling facilities all in place. There’s also a wifi service, a covered communal seating area and a washing-up area with possibly one of the best views you’ve ever had while tackling the suds. Pwllheli is a handy source of shops and places to eat, and it’s also home to a three-mile stretch of beach that’s great for a family day out. There are more beaches nearby too: long sandy stretches, hidden coves and west-facing beaches with big waves for the surfers. As well as all that, there are various outdoor activities including watersports and mountain biking close by, and a whole lot of excellent historic attractions. The closest of these, at a few minutes’ drive, is Tre'r Ceiri Hillfort, known as one of the UK’s best-preserved Iron Age hillforts.

Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked Jamie and Sylvie have created an absolutely wonderful campsite in the most stunningly beautiful of locations. It's their first season in operation and they've got everything right straight from the start!

The field sweeps gently (almost level) down from their lovely renovated farmhouse to give the most perfect view of the Yr Eifl mountains, which are just a couple of miles away and feel within touching distance.

There are no formally marked pitches, just acres of room for everyone to spread out and pick their view of choice, or cluster together in family/friends groups. Having stayed 9 nights I saw the site at both it's quietists (just me) and it's busiest ("full", I think) and it felt just as peaceful and relaxed either way.

The mature hedgerows around the site support loads of wildlife. I had a regular hedgehog visitor and birdlife was plentiful, including a large flock of goldfinches that were ever present in the adjoining field (lots of teasel in seed). The budliah meant lots of butterflies too.

The facilities are great, especially considering the off-grid nature. They are kept immaculately clean at all times and the composting toilets are emptied and cleaned several times daily. The showers are roomy and have a great agricultural feel to them, but then you are showering in barn! Hot water for pot washing is plenty.

To get to the point - GO THERE

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked We loved our stay at Tyn on the Llyn. It’s a beautiful, peaceful site with amazing views.
Jamie and Sylvie are so welcoming and clearly take real pride and care in creating a great experience for their guests.
The facilities were spotless throughout our entire stay, showers were hot and we really appreciated there being plenty of hooks to hang clothes and towels on! There were fairy lights in the showers, always plenty of toilet roll, hand soap, shower gel and washing up liquid - lovely touches which made for a great experience.
We will definitely be back and are looking forward to seeing how the little trees are growing as the site matures!

Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked Stayed for a couple of nights. Lovely site, great location with beautiful beaches and fantastic walks a short drive away. Quiet and peaceful with lovely views.

Facilities were spotles, great showers and composting toilet. The area to sit when sheltering from the rain was great with charging points for electric items.

Good WiFi signal towards the facilities.

Host was helpful and checked the facilities regularly. All in all a lovely sit.

Liked Really great location. Lovely hosts. Nice warm showers, clean loos, and a covered area to sit with sink area and charging point.

Lots of sheep and cow calls, but very quiet and tranquil otherwise.
