Peaceful wild camping

  • Simple wild camping-style pitches on the Llŷn Peninsula
  • A 10-minute drive to Abersoch, Pwllheli or Porth Neigwl beaches
  • Dog-friendly site with good access from a B road
Go wild in North Wales… wild camping, that is, in a well-placed and simple site at Garej Mynytho Campsite. The Llŷn Peninsula is surely one of the area’s loveliest locations for a relaxed break, with beaches galore, coastal walks and watersports as well as some intriguing historic sights to visit. It’s also not far from Snowdonia’s outdoor activities and some of North Wales’ most impressive castles, so it’s a canny choice for a break packed full of variety. You’ll be well placed for all of this when you stay at Garej Mynytho Campsite, which is about 10 minutes’ drive from the beaches at Abersoch, Pwllheli and Porth Neigwl and within easy reach of other popular spots like the ‘whistling sands’ of Porthor and the seaside Tŷ Coch Inn. Getting into Eryri (Snowdonia) should take you about 40 minutes by car, should you fancy swapping coast walks for mountain climbs. Garaj Mynytho is in a handy location just off a B road with a local shop a short walk away and pubs a mile and a half away in Llanbedrog. The owners have kept things nice and simple for that wild-camping vibe, but the mowed field does have toilets and a washing-up area (with public toilets 500 metres away too). Dogs are welcome and you should find plenty of places nearby to take them for a good run around.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: This campsite has a beautiful view on the sea in the distance and the owner is very nice and polite. He recommended places to see around the campsite. Had a fab weekend holiday. Location is very helpful as it is close to all the places we wanted to see and activities. Toilets are clean and close to campsite. Had a gorgeous view at the stars at night. There is a town close by about 12 mins drive with local shops and pubs.

Disliked: Only dislike is that it is next to a busy road and can be loud at night but depends on the person if a light sleeper. The price per night is quite high for a pitch next to a busy road.
