What customers say

This is a peaceful, scenic farm site with spacious pitches and friendly, welcoming owners. Guests appreciated the clean, basic toilet facilities and the opportunity to purchase fresh eggs. The location offers excellent walking opportunities, though some found it remote. While generally quiet, occasional farm animal noise and a nearby festival were noted. Some reviewers highlighted the lack of a shower and minor water tap issues, but most found the experience highly positive and would return.

Non-electric grass and gravel tent pitch

Liked Before I arrived Melanie had been in touch with details about the site and how to find it.
She popped out to greet me on arriving (although it is difficult to sneak up in my car!) and suggested a lovely spot, away from the main field.
I prefer to tuck myself away by myself. The shade of the large tree was also very welcome in the 35 deg heat.
This area was next to the home of the friendly, inquisitive chickens. Not sure what the other campers made of my cries of "Get yer beak out my frying pan!", but, if you don't feed them or drop any food, they soon get bored. Besides their eggs (available to buy at the front for £2) were delicious, they can be forgiven :-)

Yes facilities are basic, one tap, one loo, but what more do you need?
There were never any queues for the bathroom. It was clean with plenty of loo roll and clean towels (so much better than air dryers)
The site was a perfect size and so peaceful, apart from the enthusiastic cockerel at 4am and the cow chorus at 5am but, it's a farm, what do you expect?!

There are so many walks you can take from the site. I definitely recommend walking up Halkyn Mountain to catch the sunset.

Living in Wirral, this is my 'local site' and I'll be returning and wouldn't hesitate to recommend to others.

Non-electric grass and gravel tent pitch

Liked Quiet campsite, booked short notice, lovely host, explained everything on arrival, we were able to choose pitch rather than being allocated, plenty of places to hike, the occasional free roaming geese (made us smile watching them), clean toilet.

Disliked A shower would’ve been nice, however we were aware there were no shower facilities when booking as it was clearly advertised (we only missed it due to the REALLY hot weather during our stay!). Certainly wouldn’t deter us from staying again.

Non-electric grass and gravel tent pitch

Liked We loved the fact there was no pitch restriction, so you felt totally private .. There were other people in the field but with the distance, you didn't know they were there .Fresh eggs every day to buy , beautiful wildlife , very peaceful .

Disliked There was nothing to dislike ? It's very basic camping with only a toilet and wash basin , but we are fine with that

Non-electric grass and gravel tent pitch

Liked The simple set up. Left alone which is what we wanted. Easy access from A55.

Disliked The Burning Witch festival going on nearby. Sounded like Slipknot were in the adjacent field until 10.45pm which kind of shattered the peace we were looking for, also rusting gas tank and assorted farm implements in field across the way, bit of an eyesore.

Local attractions

Take a trip on the canal at Llangollen (45 minutes' drive). Then, visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site at Pontcysyllte Aqueduct (40 minutes), the longest and highest aqueduct in Britain with boats going across the top or a nice spot for a leisurely stroll with views. Into a Roman city… Chester (half an hour) is surrounded by city walls and it has much to do, from visiting amphitheatres shopping and eating to a day at the races or visiting the Chester Zoo (half an hour). There are meerkats, flamingos and big cats in the enclosures, plus playgrounds, plants and gardens. Closer to the site, tour lakes, ancient monuments and historic factories around the Greenfield Valley Heritage Park (15 minutes). Perhaps plan ahead and watch a show at the Theatr Clwyd (15 minutes), the largest producing theatre and arts centre in Wales, If you’re willing to go a little further away and you like your days action-packed, Snowdonia National Park (an hour) is also worth a day trip. Here, the activities seem endless. Go mountaineering, aim for the highest summits or try out the mountain biking trails.
