  • Comfy, family-friendly converted cow shed at Nercwys in North Wales
  • Offa’s Dyke Path 10 minutes’ drive; the Clwydian Range 20 minutes
  • Kitchen, private garden and dedicated dog run; hens and pigs on site
With views that stretch to Liverpool on clear days, The Old Cow Shed at Nercwys in North Wales is on a seven-acre smallholding with free-range hens and rare-breed pigs. Carefully converted from a byre into a cosy cottage, it has a soaring vaulted roof and sleeps up to four (on a double and a sofa bed), with an air fryer, fridge, microwave and kettle in the kitchen corner and a comfy living area with a TV. There’s an ensuite too. A woodburner takes care of any colder nights when you want to stay snug, and there’s a compact and private garden just outside. Kids and dogs are both very welcome – in fact there is a secure area for dogs to have a good run around. Laundry facilities are in the porch of the main house, which is sectioned off from the owners’ quarters. The smallholding is accessed up an uneven, unmade track so drive with caution; there’s parking for more than one vehicle right by The Old Cow Shed. You have the choice of lots of scenic walks and bike rides locally, plus there’s a play area in the village (five minutes’ walk) and a shooting range 15 minutes’ drive away. You can stroll to a pub in 20 minutes, and there are several restaurants in Mold, 10 minutes in the car.

1 bedroom cottage / chalet / bungalow

Liked The shed it's self was a good idea and for a night or two it was nice
Lady was lovely
We and our girls had a great stay
Little girl loved the chickens, piggies and viewing the stars

Disliked Towels and bathroom were damp smelling,
Exterior decking work needed doing properly
The large decking plynth needs atleast anchoring to the stone wall as it moves a real lot
There could do with some fold out chairs or something as there's only room for 2 on the sofa but enough sleeping space for 4

Liked We were looking for a couple of nights rest to break up our journey to the lake district to accommodate 2 adults,11yr old twins and a bouncy 2yr old labradoodle, and the Old Cow Shed fitted the bill beautifully.

The inside was beautifully clean and the beds were very comfortable. The main bed was built a bit higher up so all luggage could fit under there.

Jackie and Paul are amazing hosts, and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and our stay enjoyable. Even letting our children help feed the resident chicken and pigs.

The kitchen has a microwave, an airfryer, a kettle and a fridge so we could cook meals without any problems.

All linen and fluffy towels are provided and were clean and comfy. The bathroom is next to the courtyard and is private use for the old Cow Shed only.

The outside space was great for our dog and children. We ate in the private courtyard which is fenced so could let our dog off the lead and also we had use of the secure field for the dog to exercise in.

We didn't seem to be able to connect to the WiFi but this wasn't a problem for us.

We found the location excellent with the local town of Mold being a short drive away.

We would highly recommend the Old Cow Shed and hope to come back soon!! We loved it!!

Liked A Peaceful Welsh Getaway Near Mold
We had a lovely few days at this beautiful lodge, and if you're looking for a quiet, peaceful getaway, this is the place.
As it's a new accommodation, there aren't many reviews yet, but it definitely won't disappoint.
Our hosts, Jackie and Paul, are a wonderful, friendly couple who went out of their way to help us. The lodge itself was lovely, clean, and spacious. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and there was plenty of storage space underneath.
The small but compact kitchen is perfect for a short break, equipped with an air fryer and a microwave. We just wish we'd remembered to bring a toaster!
The location is fantastic, with lots to do and see nearby. Mold's high street is only a short distance away for shopping, drinks, and food. The farm itself has friendly chickens, pigs, and dogs. We enjoyed a walk up the hill next to the house for some amazing views, and you can also see beautiful scenery right from the lodge itself.
There's a separate garden area to the side of the lodge that acts as a real sun trap, and the private shower and toilet are conveniently located right next to the accommodation. We highly recommend this spot for a few days away in Wales—we absolutely loved it!
