  • Laidback site with 8.5 acres in Bryneglwys village
  • A 25-minute drive from Lake Bala and 40 minutes from Chester
  • Fresh eggs, friendly farm animals and a well-stocked outdoor bar
A chilled site in a quiet corner of Denbighshire, New Inn is a fine place to bag a relaxed rural break. With its splendid views, this popular little spot is within easy reach of attractions in and around Snowdonia, Chester and beyond. Although the former pub is permanently closed, it has a well-stocked outdoor bar called the Wobbly Dog selling draft beer and seasonal local produce. The peaceful park is also a five-minute stroll from Bryneglwys village centre, where the local stores and tea room are on hand to sort out any off-site food needs. Need to organise a bulk shop? Corwen (15 minutes' drive) is home to a bigger range of grocery shops. One of the big draws of New Inn is the number of simple pleasures to be had here, like collecting your own eggs from the site's friendly hens or watching the tame sheep frolicking through the grass. There's also ample room for setting up bonfires or barbecues and for roaming through the wilder parts of the 8.5-acre grounds. The facilities at this back to basics spot are low-key but well-maintained, with a toilet block that's got four toilets, four hot-water sinks, two showers and a washing-up sink. Phone charging is available too, to help you keep power up for your outings.

Non-electric grass tent pitch (large, no pets)

Liked: Lee and Michaela are a lovely couple and so welcoming, they saved us twice when I needed hot water for my boys bottles and when my boyfriend’s car died on site. Michaela even went out of her way to make sure we had hot water for the bottles for the night. Site is kept clean including toilets and showers. Bar and little shop on site is great, a lot of space to camp so not over crowded feeling like your on top of each other. We enjoyed seeing and feeding the animals and loved the bonfire and marshmallows. It’s perfect for families, we didn’t have to worry about music being played late etc we loved it and definitely will be coming back.

Disliked: Nothing to complain about it was perfect.

Non-electric grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch (pet friendly)

Liked: First time campers. We will definitely be back. Our son loved feeding the animals on Saturday morning and melting marshmallow on the campfire. No WiFi so was great to not have devices on all the time.
Lovely fun friendly campsite. Loved that there was no light polution so we could see the stars and satellites. We will definitely be back. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Non-electric grass tent pitch (large, no pets)

Liked: Just returned from a weekend at New Inn. First time there…had a great time. Met some really lovely people including the owners and will be returning when I can. Facilities were spotless and the showers were great as was the pitch. A site were you are not on top of each other and have plenty of space. The chickens were great!!

Liked: Wonderful site. Beautiful views. Really spacious pitches. I love the way they are surrounded by wild flowers. Great toilets & showers. The onsite shop/bar is fab too. Great owners. So welcoming & friendly. Highlight was going to feed the pigs, Bella & Little Chop. Oh and lovely to see the hens roaming around freely. A truly wonderful site. We will definitely be back

Non-electric grass tent pitch (large, no pets)

Liked: From start to finish this campsite was epic. Good vibes, good location and Leigh & Michaela were absolutely incredible. On site bar hosting cheap drinks, snackity snacks and even sausages and bacon for brekkie if needed plus a superstar coffee machine. It was chucking it down on our arrival so we couldn't have our planned meal and they kindly fed us from their own family meal. The animals onsite are a lovely touch and we got to feed the piggies and collect our own eggs. Was lovely to have chickens roaming about. The site is well maintained and love the quirkiness of the signs everywhere. Will definitely be back and be recommending to all our friends. Thank you for looking after us and hopefully we see you in the future.

Non-electric grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch (pet friendly)

Liked: Where to start. Michaela & Lee were both so welcoming when we arrived onsite with our little boy. It was our first time camping with our little boy, and we are so glad we picked this camp site. Pitches were all well maintained and spaced out so I imagine even during busy periods you wouldn't feel you were too close to other tents.

The little hut on site was well stocked, and most importantly for a toddler had icecream.

Toilets and showers basic and clean, what else do you need when camping.

Our little boy got to feed most of the farm animals onsite, and even got to bring home freshly laid eggs, he was in element as very much into farms at the moment.

Would highly recommend this site, only a short drive from Llangollen and other lovely towns.

Hopefully be visiting again soon

Liked: The location is perfect for us. A very easy going campsite, back to basics and a very free range attitude. The owners are laid back and friendly and passionate about everyone having a great time, you feel included in what they have created and wonderful watching the children getting involved with the feeding of the animals and collecting the eggs.

Non-electric grass tent pitch (large, no pets)

Liked: Lovely staff, nice facilities, nice big plot. Got to cuddle a chicken & well priced and well stocked shop/bar.

Disliked: Showers needed a little rinse, but seriously couldn’t fault anything else and camping facilities will always be grassy.

Local attractions

Get gallivanting through the green grounds of Erddig Hall (30 minutes' drive), Chirk Castle (30 minutes) or Ness Botanic Gardens (50 minutes) for fab floral displays, impressive buildings and splendid outdoor strolls. They have something else in common too: top-rated cafés where you can take afternoon tea in genteel garden surrounds. Those magnificently manicured spots strike a cracking contrast with wilder haunts like the shores of Lake Bala (25 minutes), Castell Dinas Brân (25 minutes) and Horseshoe Falls (20 minutes). There's also scope for giving your walking boots and mountain bikes a run for their money at Oneplanet Adventure (10 minutes), a forest visitor centre surrounded by a host of waymarked trails. Further full-on action can be found at the National White Water Centre (30 minutes), while those of a less intrepid temperament have Chester Zoo (40 minutes) not much further away. After making friends with sloths, elephants and jaguars, saunter down into the centre for a stroll down by the Dee or a laidback riverboat cruise.
