  • Off-grid Dyfi Forest cabin 15 minutes’ drive from Machynlleth
  • Eryri National Park and Dyfi Bike Park both 15 minutes’ drive
  • Spectacular views from the private garden; barbecue and outdoor shower
Well, what a peaceful spot. Surrounded by woodland, Dyfi Forest Retreats is found on a hillside deep within the Dyfi Forest, 15 minutes’ drive from the lively Powys market town of Machynlleth. The cabin accommodation here is off grid (so bring torches for night-time perambulations) and heated by a woodburner to make sure you’re all comfy all of the time. The place can be made up for two sleeping in a king-size bed or for up to four guests with the provision of two extra beds. Moving outdoors, there is a hot shower and washing-up area, as well as a gas barbecue on the covered porch (handy for any rainy days) and a private garden with seating and a firepit. Mountain biking your thing? The cabin is practically on the Climachx Mountain Bike Trail and only a stone’s throw from Dyfi Bike Park (15 minutes’ drive). There’s wild mountain country to explore in Eryri National Park (also 15 minutes), plus diving spots on the Dulas River (20 minutes) and wild swimming in glacial Llyn Mwyngil (45 minutes). After a dip in the sea? Aberdyfi Beach is half an hour away. If you’d rather simply stick around on this gorgeous and leafy hillside site (who could blame you?), you can settle down outside to soak up the views, keep an eye out for wildlife and bring binoculars for stargazing on clear nights. Thanks to the lack of light pollution hereabouts, the Milky Way and other galaxies can often be seen strewn across the dark sky.

Liked: Location, views were amazing! Our hosts gave us privacy but they were available if we needed them. Comfy cabin and bed. Loved being able to have a campfire. We felt secluded but in the knowledge we were a short drive to Machynlleth. Couldn't fault our stay!!
