  • Quiet wildlife haven by the River Ithon
  • Peaceful and sheltered setting with free fishing on site
  • Licensed bar with Welsh beers, malt whiskies and more
Now this is a site that's fully in tune with its surroundings... peaceful and sheltered Disserth Caravan and Camping Park is in a wildlife haven on the banks of the River Ithon, where red kites and buzzards hover overhead and where you might catch a glimpse of the resident otter or kingfisher. Grayling trout fishing is available on site too and is free for guests; just remember to bring your rod licence. Junior explorers enjoy seeing what they can uncover in the depths with a net here as well; no licence required. (If angling's your thing, this is the area for it: the River Ithon is a tributary of the mighty River Wye, one of the best spots in the country for fishing and visited by anglers the world over to land salmon and trout from its waters.) Disserth Caravan and Camping Park is also quite in tune with what guests might fancy on hol, as it has a licensed bar with a good selection of Welsh beers and malt whiskies, as well as soft drinks, tea and coffee. Its well-kept amenities are in a modern log cabin with individual rooms, all with a toilet and washbasin and most also with a shower. Laundry and dishwashing facilities are also on site.

Shepherd's hut

Liked: Beautiful location, plenty of local walking, really clean facilities. I was surprised just how many amenities there were and this made a huge difference. Local scenery is just beautiful and you can walk for miles! The two neighbouring horses like to come and say good morning when they see you wake which is lovely. There’s a nice stream again which is very peaceful to walk along. There’s dogs absolutely loved every minute and have never slept so well! Including our extremely active border collie pup! We had our own bathroom at the shower block which was immaculate! And a lovely surprise! It was a lovely friendly site, nice quiet and peaceful the owners and on site team were lovely and friendly! The shepherds hut was comfortable, perfect facilities including a fridge, kettle, microwave. There was also HEATING!!! This was an absolute bonus when warming up after a cold wet walk and made the hut so cosy! Cannot wait to come back!

Disliked: Honestly nothing I didn’t dislike, the only suggestion I would make if an onsite fire pit and wood could be provided at extra cost if wanted but there was definitely no dislikes here! Wi-Fi is slow but this never bothered me as I went to switch off.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked: Absolutely loved the site.. Very clean site showers didn't have pushins... Were very hot if needed all cleaned regularly .. Owner and manager were extremely friendly as well as other campers ... On site bar a bonus but take cash or you can bank transfer. If brave at road walking pub 1.2 miles away(the new inn) prices are good... Food wise make sure you're hungry portions are big! Can't wait to go back! Supermarkets not to far away by car... 02 signal was good (didn't use WiFi)

Disliked: Holiday ended and had to come home😂

Fully-serviced hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: We liked everything about this site! The toilet and shower block were clean and tidy with the showers being hot and powerful. The washing up area has 2 large sinks providing dish washing utensils too. The laundry facility were reasonably priced at £4 for use of the washing machine and £1 per 15 mins for the tumble dryer. There was also 2 fridges to use if needed.

The site itself was so quiet and peaceful, we only ventured off on our final day. When booking this site, we were looking for somewhere we could relax and this site more than allowed for that! We did however, take a little walk into the graveyard and church, with the church boasting the most spectacular pew boxes I've ever seen!

Oh and the rainbow trout straight out the river was the tastiest fish I've every had!!

Disliked: There was nothing to dislike about this site if you're looking for a place to relax.

Electric gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Quite

Disliked: No hot water, obviously turned off as only camper on site, signs everywhere about cleaning up and some I would say rude towards people.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your review and I am sorry you did not enjoy your stay. As to somebody being rude I was the only person from the park who spoke to you and I was most certainly not rude, infact I went out of my way to find a hose so you could fill your water tank. As to hot water ours is supplied by instantaneous heaters which would have taken time to deliver especially since as you say you were the only people overnighting on the touring field. If it was a problem you made no effort to advise staff and give them a chance to rectify if there had been a problem. It is always easy to just write a review than alert somebody to an issue. Enjoy your travels.

Electric gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Good size pitch. Contact from owner before arrival. View of church.

Disliked: Showers. Not great facilities as shower difficult to use and not very hot.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: I am sorry you found our showers difficult to use, they all have single lever mixer valves which you turn one way for hot and the opposite way for cold. The hot water is from instantanteous water heaters and is set at 46c which unless mixed is to hot for most people. Maybe you are used to sites with push button single temperature showers which are either on or off.
