  • Peaceful dog-friendly site with views over Cardigan Bay
  • A 35-minute walk from New Quay; footpath to the Wales Coast Path
  • Shops and pubs in New Quay; playground and dog exercise area on site
Raring to go dolphin-spotting on the Wales Coast Path or fishing on a boat trip from New Quay? Very well – here’s Tyr Ffynnon Farm, an advantageous base for such coastal adventures. With 180-degree views over Cardigan Bay and a location just 35 minutes’ walk from New Quay, it would have been a shame to keep this quiet 38-acre working sheep farm for sheep only. Now, families and dogs (on leads) are welcome to come and relax at the elevated peninsular spot. There are plenty of walking areas away from the traffic – and just a couple of hundred metres from the entrance, there’s a public footpath where guests can join the Wales Coast Path. Spectacular views and the chance to spot dolphins… yes please. The coastal path passes through lively New Quay, where activities such as boat trips, sailing, fishing and watersports are on the agenda. Also called Cei Newydd, New Quay has a pretty harbour, sandy beaches and a sound selection of shops, pubs and restaurants for all your foodie desires. The pièce de resistance at Tyr Ffynnon Farm surely has to be the sublime sea-view sunsets that can be seen from the site. Other ace features include the modern shower and toilet facilities, which have hot electric showers, wash basins, toilets, electric hand dryers and electric sockets for hairdryers (in the ladies’ only) and a shaver point (in the gents’). Those with mini family members will also be pleased to find a playground and a fenced dog exercise area on site. Bonus points – the peaceful, friendly site is 20 minutes’ drive from Aberaeron, 35 minutes from Cardigan and 45 minutes from Aberystwyth.

This campsite offers stunning sea views, with many guests praising the clean facilities and friendly, helpful owners. Pitches are generally spacious and well-maintained. It's a popular base for exploring local coastal paths and New Quay, though the walk can be steep. Some visitors noted the showers require payment and the site can be exposed to the wind. Electric grass pitch

Liked Superb views with amazing sunsets. New toilet facilities that were kept clean and well equipped. Emily was very friendly on reception and helpful with local information.

Disliked On our last evening children from one of the families were allowed to play on the field in the centre of the site till 11.30 at night screaming and shouting! Understand they are on holiday but a bit inconsiderate of the parents to allow such behaviour. Quite a physically demanding walk to New Quay beach if you’re in a Motorhome with transport.

Electric grass pitch

Liked Absolutely perfect! The kids loved every second! Perfect facilities, campsite was very clean and very close to town and the costal paths, will definitely be back! ☺️

Disliked At our small stay our van window cover was ripped by a group of adults throwing a hard spiral ball and have scratched my windscreen, and again the following day hit the roof of my van while the wife was getting my son to sleep, they also hit our neighbours caravan window and the top of there car aswell but they wasn’t to fussed. there was another neighbour next to us with a £25k camper and he said he was overly paranoid with them throwing these spiral balls/hard balls around the site as he knows how easily the panels are to dent.

But non of this is the campsite or campsite owners fault, it’s a brilliant site and we loved ever single minute and the campsite owners grandson was so good with our kids ☺️ maybe no ball throwing on the camping fields could possibly be an idea as there were a few other campers looking over there shoulders.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked What a delightful little find this was...First time camping with the family, yep we forgot a few things but there is a shop not to far away and New Quay is only a 7min drive away. The camp site is well maintained with level pitches, toilets and showers are very clean.
Perfect for sunsets 👌

Electric grass pitch

Liked Wonderful views, large pitch, clean facilities an no road noise.

Disliked Needed a bit of supervision as to how people pitched as we ended up with a campervan about 6ft from our caravan, we spoke to them and management and they kindly moved over, we are ex wardens and used to at least a 3m to 6m fire break, the otherside of the site were also too close on some pitches.

Local attractions

Days out in Aberaeron (20 minutes’ drive) – a regency town with a Georgian harbour and multi-coloured houses – could be spent taking yet more coastal walks, tucking into tapas and scallops around the harbour or licking a honey-flavoured ice cream by the sea. Strolls or fishing along the river Teifi might make it onto your itinerary in Cardigan (35 minutes). The town’s castle is on the riverside and has its own escape room. Another historical spot is in St Dogmaels (40 minutes), where there are abbey ruins with medieval roots. Aberystwyth (45 minutes) is much more than a university town. It’s also home to the National Library of Wales, a free museum and heaps of interesting shops. Elsewhere along the coast, Penbryn beach (25 minutes) is accessed through woodlands from the Wales Coast Path. A short detour from here will get you to Tresaith Waterfall (25 minutes).
