Llanina caravan park

  • Peaceful site in Llanarth, five minutes’ drive from Cardigan Bay
  • New Quay 10 minutes’ drive; National Trust - Llanerchaeron 15 minutes
  • Dogs welcome; launderette; a short walk to the village pub
With the beaches of Cardigan Bay just a short drive away – sheltered Cei Bach is five minutes away (or 15 minutes by bike), for example, while New Quay is a 10-minute drive – Llanina Caravan Park is an excellent base for a seaside holiday in western Wales. Sitting on the edge of the village of Llanarth, Llanina Caravan Park is an immaculately maintained site where you and your family (and the family dog, of course…) can relax and unwind in peaceful surroundings as you take in far-reaching views of the lush Welsh countryside. There are also plenty of adventures to be had in the area: watersports, for starters, with surfers choosing stretches like New Quay North Beach and Traeth y Quarry (10 minutes’ drive). If you don’t get seasick, boat trips from New Quay Harbour take you out for fishing trips or on marine wildlife safaris – the area is home to seals and bottlenose dolphins, with frequent sightings. Then there are spectacular coastal walks, like the one leading to sheltered Cwmtydu Cove (15 minutes), an old smugglers’ haven where you might bump into the local seals basking in the sun. Each pitch at Llanina comes with ample space for barbecues and outdoor seating. If you’d rather have a home-cooked meal – whether a roast or locally caught fish – the village pub is just a short walk down the A487. The site has a toilet/shower block and a launderette.

Local attractions

National Trust - Llanerchaeron (15 minutes’ drive) was designed by John Nash (of London’s Clarence House fame). Visit the elegant interiors of this Regency villa, walking past period furniture and artworks, to feel like a Welsh aristocrat of yesteryear, then head to the walled garden, where hundred-year-old trees still produce delicious organic fruit. The two beaches in Aberystwyth (40 minutes) are separated by the Royal Pier, which is home to an arcade, assorted dining options and plenty of alfresco seating – all accompanied by splendid views of the town. The sights at the top of Constitution Hill (including a Camera Obscura) can be reached via the Aberystwyth Cliff Railway. In addition to hiking and mountain-biking trails of varying difficulties, Bwlch Nant yr Arian Forest (50 minutes) is known for the daily spectacle of the red kites feeding. Be sure to be by the lake in time for the 2pm winged frenzy.
