  • Family-run site on a quiet Ceredigion farm, for CAMC members only
  • A 10-minute drive to Aberystwyth; half an hour to New Quay
  • Access to the Ystwyth Trail for walks and cycling; fishing on site
Picking a spot for some time spent exploring the gorgeous Ceredigion coastline? If you’re a member of the Caravan and Motorhome Club, you should certainly take a look at Penygraig Farm Certified Location, a family-run site within 32 acres of gorgeous countryside a couple of miles from Aberystwyth. This farm site has been welcoming guests to its fabulous location since 1988, providing a handy base for both countryside and coast time. With easy access from the A487 (the main road running north-south through Ceredigion) it’s splendidly simple to get to – and once you’re installed you can head out on foot or bikes along the adjacent Ystwyth Trail. That trail runs all the way along the banks of the river to Aberystwyth, 2.5 miles away; if you’d rather drive, it’s likely to take a little under 10 minutes. The town is well known as a great place to visit, with attractions like the cliff railway and National Library of Wales as well as beaches and a pier. Aberystwyth may be your local town while you’re staying here, but it’s far from the only place to visit nearby, as this convenient location puts you within easy reach of seaside spots including Borth, Aberaeron and New Quay, plus inland attractions like Devil's Bridge Waterfalls and the Bwlch Nant yr Arian Forest Visitor Centre. When you’re not out and about you’ll be able to soak up the quiet atmosphere at this small-scale site, perhaps taking a meal over to the picnic area or heading to the riverbank for a bit of fishing. Facilities have been kept simple to preserve the peaceful setting, but you’ll have access to toilets and showers on site.

Local attractions

Aberystwyth (10 minutes’ drive) is likely to be your first port of call, for the beach, the National Library of Wales and the castle. You can also ride the UK’s second-longest funicular railway up to the top of Constitution Hill for crazy golf, a camera obscura and various games for the kids. From Aberystwyth you can also board trains on the Vale of Rheidol Railway to visit Devil’s Bridge Waterfalls – or if you’d rather drive there, it’s about 20 minutes from the farm. Not far from the falls are the Bwlch Nant yr Arian Forest Visitor Centre, which holds daily red kite feeding sessions, and The Magic of Life Butterfly House, where you can get hands on with the colourful insects. For some seaside time, head to the sandy beach in Borth (20 minutes’ drive), hit the seafood restaurants in Aberaeron (25 minutes) or visit New Quay (half an hour) for dolphin-spotting boat trips.
