Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked This site was well above average for the pitches and the facilities. The location to the town was also excellent within easy walking distance to restaurants, Ice Cream Parlour, cafe and Food shop. The pitches were well made up for hard standing and spacious. We would definitely come back

Disliked Nothing to dislike about the site.

However, Dumfries and Galloway council should do more to keep the footpaths open and cut back, many paths that we tried were overgrown and we could hardly walk them, in particular the canal path which could have been lovely to walk to the sea but was very overgrown and tore us to shreds

Local attractions

Anyone with any sense should be quite the fan of Dumfries and Galloway, for many, many reasons including its wildlife and birdwatching, its lush landscape and the evidence of its rich history, archaeology and art in its castles, towers, abbeys, earthworks and standing stones. And did you know that JM Barrie had the idea for Peter Pan while in Dumfries – and that nearby Sanquhar has the oldest post office in Scotland…? Paul, Neil and Bob (the latest generation of Swalwells to own Amwoth Caravan Park) also suggest a look at Whithorn, on the southern tip of the Machars peninsula and the seat of Christianity in Scotland, and at Lochmaben as the birthplace of Robert the Bruce. And if you like reading Rabbie, you might also like to see Dumfries, home and resting place for famed Scottish poet Robert Burns. Ecclefechan, the birth town of Thomas Carlyle, is also within reach – do be sure to have an Ecclefechan butter tart while you're there.
