Non-electric hardstanding and grass tent pitch
Liked: I was picking a new tent up from Strathaven and booked into this site for the night so I didn't have a 6 hour round trip. Upon arrival the sat nav took me to a padlocked gate, quick call to Craig and he said hang on a sec our house is just adjacent I'll drive up and let you in. Followed him down to a lovely little spot with great views and a welcoming committee of 30 Alpacas.
The sun was blazing which Craig assured me is a rarity! We chatted for a few minutes and he gave me some advice on the best spots to pitch, very friendly, helpful and don't tell him I said this but humorous too!
The site has no toilet or shower but this is clearly stated and I was well aware before I left, this wasn't an issue for me but when I take the family back we'll bring a small cassette toilet for convinience.
For the majority of the day I had the place to myself and felt like the king of the castle 😂 I had a nice roaring fire in the evening and it was until 9pm a van turned up and put up a tent in the dark, no mean feat!
Next morning, Craig came down around 9:30 and we had a good natter, it was like speaking to an old friend! (he'd probably say less of the old!)
Needless to say I thoroughly enjoyed my night there, oh one thing I can't forget...THE STARS! The night sky was clear, I've never seen so many stars, shooting stars and satellites.
We'll definitely be back one day soon to share a whisky or 5!
Thank you Craig and best of luck, hope the winter is kind to you!

Liked: One of the most profound aspects of camping here was the immersion in nature. The tranquility of the forest, the sound of a gentle breeze rustling through the leaves, and the sight of a star-studded sky are things that can't be replicated in the hustle and bustle of daily life. Low hedgeley certainly brought camping alongside a serene lake, in the heart of a beautiful area set in acres of pasture the connection to the earth was so invigorating. It’s a reminder of the beauty that exists outside urban environments. Perhaps one of the most treasured aspects of this camping trip was the quality time spent with family . With digital distractions minimized ,we were free to engage in authentic conversations, share stories around the campfire, and build lasting memories. My best friends and I often reminisce about our camping trips, the laughter shared, the challenges faced, and the bonds strengthened. Camping here is low hedgeley gave us a fantastic way to disconnect from our busy lives and reconnect with one another.

Liked: My 5 year old son has been wanting to go camping all summer, I found The wee caravan park on Pitch up.
On arrival Craig, couldn’t be more friendly or helpful, lead us into the campsite, guided us the best pitch and gave us some local knowledge, meeting him was just the start of a great family camping trip.
The site itself is clean, well kept, has picnic benches and wood burners, no other real amenities apart from fresh running water, which was ideal for us as we were looking for a real camping experience.
The alpaca’s came along to say hello too.
We had the campsite to ourselves so were able to play football and through a frizzy on the open field.
Craig came along in the morning, took the kids to feed the sheep.
They absolutely loved this experience, couldn’t have found a better location and host.
Would highly recommend to any family looking for the same thing as us.

Liked: We booked The Wee Caravan Park, as it was in the location that we needed, but mostly it was because our children really wanted to see the Alpacas! On arrival, when I mentioned this to Craig, he took us all to see them, which was a fantastic experience. Craig also supplied us with wood for the provided camp fire. Both Kerry & Craig are great hosts, with some really good suggestions on where to go next, we ended up at Dumfries House, only a few miles from the campsite, which has two brilliant play areas for the children
Disliked: Nothing to dislike, the campsite was exactly as described.
