  • Small family-run site 10 minutes' drive from Stonehenge
  • Salisbury 20 minutes' drive; half an hour to Longleat or Stourhead
  • Play area on site and firepits for hire; dogs on leads welcome
Planning to visit the world-renowned ancient site of Stonehenge on your travels? You’ll be in pole position when staying at Stonehenge Touring Park – this small family-run site in the Wiltshire countryside looks out over Salisbury Plain and is about four miles from Stonehenge itself (about 10 minutes’ drive/20 minutes by bike). There’s two acres of space to play with here, but the team in charge like to keep guest numbers on the lower side so that everyone has plenty of space to relax around the tree-lined grassy site. All the essential facilities are in place too: there’s a launderette, a chemical disposal point, an indoor washing-up area and smart (and regularly cleaned) bathrooms with a family shower room and accessible facilities. A small play area is on site to help you get the kids tired out for bed as well. Hankering after a nice warm outdoor evening? Hire a firepit on site (with logs available to buy) or bring along a barbecue. If you don’t fancy that, or if the weather turns, it’s handy to know that there’s a pub a mile away in the village of Shrewton for drinks and home-made meals. Of course, Stonehenge is the big attraction around here, but it’s far from the only one. This park also makes an excellent base for countryside walks and bike rides, fishing or outings to places like Salisbury, Stourhead or Longleat.

Toilets were terribly kept with one of the two men’s loos out of action. A single hand dryer which did not work and showers you couldn’t swing a mouse in let alone a cat. The floors were muddy and as a whole the shower / loos were terrible. The ladies loos also again 2 but with one out of action again. It looks like the floors were cleaned with a muddy mop. The showers had a single ball valve to turn them on or off with no temperature regulation what so ever. In fact early morning the water was so hot it was scolding. Not fit to put a child under. Come on pitch up. Where is your quality control of sites you promote. The pictures on the post for this site must be 10 years old. The hard standing pitches were thin on stones and you stepped out onto mud! Definitely not worth the money. In fact we left a day earlier than booked. The young chap who we had to phone when we arrived turned up in a dirty track suit and looked like he just woke up nursing a hang over. He was very vague about everything and a point and gesture here and there is all we got

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked: Level hard standing, very quiet location. Amenity block very clean and heated.
Owners accommodating in allowing us to choose a pitch which had more sun.
Location in a pretty and quirky village down a dead end lane, that you wouldn’t otherwise visit. Lane wide enough for larger motorhomes. Definitely worth a walk around the village, especially if you are interested in history.

Disliked: A lot of work in progress, to be fair early in the season, drove past at first as the sign was taken down. unable to access washing up point but no problem using laundry room,. I only mention to make other visitors aware, this didn’t detract from the stay. Please note no WiFi.
