  • Glampsite with Durrington Walls views 10 minutes’ drive to Stonehenge
  • Avebury stone circles 35 minutes’ drive, and Longleat half an hour
  • Cosy wooden pods behind a pub serving tasty meals and takeaways daily
Giving a rare chance indeed to glamp it up in the mysterious and ancient landscapes that surround Stonehenge in Wiltshire, Stonehenge Inn Glamping offers a handful of cosy wooden pads – each with its own colourful mural on the exterior – behind a namesake pub. One of the exceptional things about this particular pub is that it’s about a minute’s walk from the circles of posts that now mark the prehistoric site at Woodhenge, and barely five minutes’ stroll from Neolithic earthworks at Durrington Walls. Oh, and it’s actually currently the closest pub glampsite to Stonehenge itself. A stay in the pods – nattily kitted out with double beds – at the Stonehenge Inn gives you views over the Durrington Landscape, along with exceptional sunrises on clear mornings. Delicious meals and takeaways are offered seven days a week, and guests in the accommodation units get to use the pub’s showers and toilets for free. Please note there will be traffic noise from the busy A303 at peak times.

Local attractions

A stay at Stonehenge Inn Glamping makes a great base for exploring the stunning Wiltshire countryside, with Woodhenge and Durrington Walls both less than five minutes’ walk away from the pods. The famed stones at Stonehenge itself are less than 10 minutes’ drive away, with immersive exhibits on Neolithic villages at the smart visitor centre. There’s plenty more ancient history to discover in Wiltshire; have a wander around the sprawling stone circles at Avebury (35 minutes), try to guess why the strange hill was constructed at Silbury (half an hour), and visit the burial site at West Kennet Long Barrow (35 minutes). Had your fill of prehistoric wonders? Time-travel forwards to the medieval era and explore Old Sarum Castle (15 minutes). For a complete change of pace, spend the day on safari at Longleat (half an hour), where you can also spot silverbacks on Gorilla Island or feed the cheeky meerkats. If birds of prey spark your interest, make a beeline for the Hawk Conservancy Trust Bird of Prey Centre (15 minutes) to marvel at the skill of raptors in flying displays.
