Electric grass and gravel pitch

Liked I liked the site. Everyone was very friendly.
Lashings of hot water available.
A short walk to the pub.
Good field at the bottom of the site to walk my dog.

Disliked Next to a relatively busy road.
Some early morning tractor noise, understandable though for this time of the year.
No pedestrian path to the pub or to the walk by the stream.
The bin collection people had let the site's owners down which resulted in overflowing bins. Not the sites fault

Dog friendly, even the dogs were quiet.

Non-electric grass and gravel pitch

Liked Site manager was more than helpful on arrival, with a number of options where we could site. Decent area to walk dogs for a leg stretch. Great pub just up the road, Holman Clavell. Site is situated in a beautiful part of the West Country. A number of reviews complained about the traffic on the main road; the site manager made us aware of this and we were not in the least bit bothered by it. It is in the heart of the countryside, so those big things called tractors are around. Same complaints about the bins not being emptied, well we were there Friday to Monday and they had 2 collections. Didn’t use the shower facilities but those that say they’re dated, I’d ask are they still functional? This is outdoor back nature holidaying; if that’s not your thing, stay in a hotel.

Electric grass and gravel pitch

Liked Had a really nice weekend break.
Wasn’t sure what to expect given some of the reviews but it was great.
Site was tidy and up together, owner was very relaxed, friendly and helpful.
The toilet blocks whilst a little old (but it’s a campsite ! ) were always clean , well stocked with toilet roll and handwash , and the showers were always hot.
They rent out pitches for a whole season so some of the caravans were empty. That’s just how it was , but it felt fine it was nice and quiet and relaxed but there were enough people on site for chatting to etc .
The only side of the pitch up against the road was where they stored some caravans , the site has lots of green and trees, and was very quiet and sheltered.
Finally it was a two minute walk to the pub up the road and on a Friday in the summer they have live music . We had a lovely evening, food looked good too.
For us it was a very nice campsite , exceeded our expectations and we would happily camp there again.

Disliked The only negative was the bins. They were all stacked neatly and kept in a little wooden area out of site but they were very full to overflowing .

Electric grass and gravel pitch

Liked Nothing

Disliked Don't bother. Toilets old and mouldy. Loose toilet seats and rusty appliances. Shower cubicles belong in a prison.
Dumped caravans and piles of old wheels, lower field looks like a travellers site with caravans in various states of disrepair.
Random people walking around campsite during the night and traffic on campsite busy as they also sell 2nd hand vans .
Whole site is unsightly and needs a complete revamp and tidy up.
Absolutely no phone signal.
We booked three night but left after two.
Just very very poor.

Electric grass and gravel pitch

Liked Not a lot, the park warden was very friendly and seemed to have a lot of work on his hands.

Disliked Very dated facilities, rusty radiator and old mould marks painted over, damp problem in places with the walls. Whole site needs tidying. Overflowing rubbish. When we arrived we needed to call at the owners, who were out, to let them know we had arrived and they didn’t seem to realise we were coming. Next to a very busy/fast road which isn’t their fault. A lot of noise during the night with vehicles coming and going on/off the site. As previous people have mentioned does appear to be more residential/permanent (we hadn’t picked up on this before we stayed). Advertised as with WiFi but sadly it hardly worked which for some people isn’t important but for us with our daughter aboard and wanted to be able to keep in contact it was. Not worth the price per night.

Local attractions

This is a stunning setting, metres from woodland, walks and country pubs, and within easy driving distance of activities and attractions over Somerset, Devon and Dorset. Playing fields and parks are close by. The coasts of three counties are all handy for day trips: at Somerset, have a day at Weston-super-Mare or Minehead, both under an hour away; at Devon, make for Seaton and Dawlish, 35 and 55 minutes' drive respectively, and at Dorset, dig into the attractions of the Jurassic Coast at Lyme Regis, Bridport and West Bay, all within 45 minutes. For local walks and dog walks around the region's woodland and the Blackdown Hills of Outstanding Natural Beauty, try the two reservoirs and the nature reserve of Otterford Lakes, five minutes' drive from the site, where anglers can also cast off for wild brown trout. Or have an urban wander around Somerset's towns and cities such as Wellington (15 minutes), Exeter (45 minutes) and Glastonbury, just under an hour away.
