What customers say

Visitors praise the peaceful atmosphere, beautiful scenery and friendly welcome from the owner and his dog. Facilities, including showers, are frequently described as spotless and well-maintained. Generous pitching options and a field for dogs to run freely are highlights. While generally quiet, some noise from a nearby stadium during a race weekend was noted. The distance to toilets was a minor inconvenience for one visitor with a young child.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked Owners are friendly and communicate well.
They can charge a couple of devices and freeze some freezer packs while on site.
Field is well maintained and plenty of space to not be in other campers pockets. We had two pitches together, forming a larger group and owners were fine with this.
Toilets and shower block by main entrance, need a torch at night for the walk to them.

Very cheap, quiet, peaceful and relaxing.

Disliked Neighbouring field owner had requested through owner for no open fires as they were anxious about the dry weather and their barn in neighbouring field. There were no local authority warnings on this so it was fairly unnecessary in my opinion, and with one of the main factors being that fire pits were allowed it did put a bit of a taint on our final evening.

Not any accessible walking routes on foot from campsite other than an overgrown bridle path.

Haven't marked down as these are not campsite issues.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked Owner were lovely. Facilities were adequate for what we needed - one over night stop for us. Field was level and vast. Price was reasonable.

Disliked Bathroom was ok all in working order - only downside for us is we were unable to locate a washing up area.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked This is such a lovely, peaceful campsite and the host greets you with the most friendly welcome. The field is easy to access, well cared for and has drinking water/waste right next to it.
The toilet and shower block is very clean, showering was delightful as the cubicle is spacious, it has hooks for your things and the water was hot almost instantly.

Local attractions

The level plateau of the Blackdown Hills provides ample options for cycling and walking – just ask Carl, the friendly owner of Buttles Farm, for his recommendations or to lend you a walking book. There's also a cracking good 13-mile circular walk at Castle Neroche (15 minutes' drive), through traditionally managed woodlands grazed by English Longhorn cattle up the broad vistas from the hilltops. If the heights of Neroche or your trip to the old airfield have your gaze fixed upwards, visit the aerodrome at Dunkerswell 15 minutes away for a microlight flying lesson or a skydive, or book yourself in for a 20-minute glider flight on selected days of the week at Devon and Somerset Gliding Club (20 minutes). Fear not though if you prefer your feet firmly on the ground, as the many views, walks, beaches and fossil-studded cliffs of the famed and UNESCO-protected Jurassic Coast are around 45 minutes' drive from the site. Make for elegant Lyme Regis to see the prehistoric treasures of the Dinosaurland Fossil Museum, then head round the coast to Charmouth beach and try hunting some fossils of your own. You could also hike the mighty South West Coast Path (all 630 miles of it, if you fancy) or head to West Bay for sandcastles and a high-speed boat ride out to sea.
