  • Monkey World, Peppa Pig World and the Jurassic Coast within 45 minutes
  • Heated outdoor pool, playground and BMX track on site
Best be waving bye-bye to the boss for as long a while as poss if you’re wending your way to Wilksworth Caravan Park… there’s a rather lengthy list of stuff to do in the vicinity of this family-friendly spot a mile from Wimborne. Even before you’ve even ventured beyond the park’s boundaries there’s much to fill an hour or few with: an outdoor pool with splash pool for the small sorts, a football field, a BMX track, table tennis and a playground. Site passes also entitle you to scoot over to a sister park 20 minutes away to swim in their indoor pool, work out at the well-equipped gym and join in with a huge range of daytime activities and evening ents. And you’ll no doubt be wanting to leave plenty of time for getting out and about too: beaches, forest walks, pony rides, museums and boat trips are all within easy reach… and it’s just possible the kids may draw your attention to the proximity of Monkey World and/or Peppa Pig World too. The park is also well located for some gorgeous scenery – particularly in the nearby New Forest National Park and Cranborne Chase National Landscape. The latter is also an International Dark Sky Reserve, so get set for some fantastic stargazing on clear nights. In the interests of maxing out your available leisure hours, the basics are well-supplied on site: bathrooms have all mod cons (underfloor heating, free hairdryers and accessible facilities among them) and there’s a washing-up area and wifi connection. Eats can be picked up at the shop, or it’s a doddle to waddle off to the local pub (a traditional thatched number 15 minutes’ walk away).

Electric grass pitch

Liked Big pitches with plenty of space for caravan, awning and car, could of fitted another awning too was that big. Clean and tidy site with tennis court, football pitch, paddle courts and swimming pool, though as mentioned, it was not open. A good children's play park though with lots to do for all ages.

Disliked Swimming pool not open, could easily have been as weather was good enough. No privacy on pitches as they were on top of each other.

Electric grass pitch

Liked Pitch size very good. Nice small park

Disliked Pool system- had to wait an hour and half (even though I turned up half a before a session)
Very small dog paddock - especially since no other way of exercising or exploring because of private land all around.
No other walks- kids got bored, not really suitable for older kids and/or if you have a decent size dog who needs lots of exercise. We had no where else to go out of park ie walk/ adventures and exploring

Electric grass pitch

Liked Nær Wimborne by bike.

Disliked We had noisy neighbors who crossed over our plott nearly knocking us over with their electric “bikes”. We asked if we could move but apparently the place was fully booked. I asked if they could contact us if a place became available. They never did even though we saw two empty spots and knew one of them was available all weekend as the people beside us told us they had moved from one of them as they didn’t want the shade. Felt the person at the reception had no intention of helping me. Maybe because we were not British? To many foreigners our Norwegian language appears to be German.
The toilets and showers were dirty.

Electric grass pitch

Liked Lovely quiet site. Good facilities but a little bit of a walk. Close to Wimborne but far enough away to feel right in the countryside

Disliked The toilets being too far away from the touring fields.

Liked ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Perfect Family Escape at Wilksworth Caravan Park

Our recent stay at Wilksworth Caravan Park was absolutely wonderful — a perfect getaway for families looking to unwind, explore, and enjoy quality time together. From the moment we arrived, it was clear this campsite is designed with families in mind, offering a warm, safe, and welcoming environment that both kids and adults will love.

🏕 Spacious and Comfortable Pitches

Wilksworth offers a variety of pitches, including spacious grass and hardstanding options, which made setting up our tent and camping gear a breeze. The pitches were well-maintained and flat, providing plenty of room for our kids to run around safely without feeling cramped. The availability of electric hookups was a big bonus, helping us stay connected and powered throughout our stay.

🚿 Clean and Family-Friendly Facilities

One of the standout features of Wilksworth is the excellent facilities. The toilets and shower blocks were immaculate, cleaned regularly, and equipped with plenty of hot water — a must-have when camping with children! They also provide family-sized shower rooms and baby-changing areas, which made things so much easier for us as parents.

🌳 Beautiful Location and Outdoor Activities

Nestled in the beautiful Dorset countryside, Wilksworth is the perfect base for outdoor adventures. We loved exploring the nearby walking trails and the peaceful surroundings, which gave us a real sense of escape from the busy day-to-day life. The kids especially enjoyed playing outside, discovering nature, and making new friends with other families staying at the park.

🧸 Activities and Play Areas for Kids

Wilksworth truly shines when it comes to keeping children entertained. The play areas were well-equipped, safe, and perfect for children of all ages. Our kids were thrilled to have a space where they could play freely while we relaxed nearby. On some evenings, the park organised family-friendly activities and small events that added a lovely community feel and gave us all a chance to connect with other campers.

🍽 Convenience and Extras

The on-site shop was a lifesaver for picking up essentials and treats without having to drive into town. Whether it was snacks for the kids or last-minute camping supplies, everything we needed was available. Nearby, there are also charming local pubs and cafes where we enjoyed meals after busy days outdoors.

🤝 Friendly and Helpful Staff

The staff at Wilksworth were exceptional — friendly, welcoming, and always ready to assist. They provided us with useful local information and made sure our stay was as comfortable as possible. Their genuine care for guests made a big difference to our experience.

📝 Final Thoughts

Camping at Wilksworth Caravan Park was a highlight for our family. It combined the joy of outdoor living with the comfort and convenience of well-maintained facilities and a family-focused atmosphere. If you’re looking for a campsite where your kids can be safe, entertained, and free to explore, while you enjoy peace of mind and beautiful surroundings, I highly recommend Wilksworth.

We left with wonderful memories and can’t wait to return for another family adventure!

Electric grass pitch

Liked Pitch was a good size.

Disliked Swimming pool closed on the Sunday, no notice given.
Need another shower/toilet block for the amount of pitches.
Unruly behaviour of large party on camping field, a warden had spoken to them twice but my daughter and partner were still kept awake until well after 2am. Reception staff not willing to let them move onto our pitch in an awning. They said there was not enough room. There was plenty of room, and parking spaces not used right by our pitch. This daughter decided to go home a day early because they couldn’t face another night of broken sleep.
Another daughter was in a caravan and had to be off the pitch by 11am. As it was our other daughters 40th birthday they asked if they could take the caravan off this pitch and leave on the car park for only a couple of hours. No was the answer. Again there was plenty of room by our pitch that they could have left the caravan on.
Not willing to accommodate or even try to sort out certain problems.

Local attractions

Hold on to your hats, folks: the staff on site have many suggestions for a day out round these parts. Beach days, for starters – on the sandy stretch in Bournemouth perhaps, or rubbing shoulders with the swanky folks at Sandbanks, both of which are half an hour away by car. Charmouth, an hour away, is the place for dino-loving kids to ferret out a fossil or two. Potter down to Poole Quay (half an hour away) for boat trips to Brownsea Island, or drive down to Durdle Door (45 minutes) to swim or kayak through the huge limestone arch. Away from the coast, the New Forest National Park is half an hour away for fresh-air frolics including walks, horse rides and canoe trips. And keep the kids on best behaviour with the promise of a trip to Peppa Pig World, Monkey World, Adventure Wonderland or Go Ape, all of which are within a half-hour drive.
