  • Well-equipped and well-established Dorset touring park
  • Excellent location 10 minutes' drive from Bournemouth and New Forest
  • Heated outdoor pool on site; meet the site's talking parrots
Ever stayed at a touring park that’s got talking parrots on site, and has a ski slope a couple of minutes’ walk away? Well, those are just a couple of the treats in store for guests at Longfield Caravan Park, a premium family-run site in the wonderful Dorset countryside. The chatty birds have been living in the aviaries here for more than 50 years, and they’ve become a popular attraction in that time… but they’re far from the only fabulous feature at this well-established and well-equipped park. The lovely solar-heated outdoor pool is another excellent attraction – and it’s safely fenced off to give parents peace of mind on pool days. The touring pitches (on gravel and grass, with space for an awning) have been nicely laid out around this parkland setting, with mature hedges and pine trees providing shade, privacy and a lovely green backdrop for your break. Handy facilities include a launderette, an Elsan point, a grey waste disposal point and bathrooms with male and female showers and toilets, plus accessible bathrooms. Location-wise, this site scores very highly, too – it’s easily accessed from the A338, about halfway between Ringwood and Christchurch (and about 10 minutes’ drive from both). That location puts you within easy reach of the New Forest National Park, the Dorset coast and heaps of great family activities. Not that you have to get in the car if you don’t want to: you could simply walk to SnowTrax Alpine Activity Centre (500 metres away, and home to a café as well as the ski slopes) or cross the road to walk your dog across the heath.

What customers say

This is a friendly, small campsite with clean facilities and a popular outdoor swimming pool. Owners are frequently described as helpful and welcoming. Guests appreciate the quiet location, proximity to attractions like Snowtrax and Moors Valley Country Park, and the pleasant on-site aviaries. Some older facilities, particularly the shower blocks, are noted as needing an update, and road noise can be an issue for some pitches.

Electric grass and gravel touring pitch

Liked The owners are really helpful & friendly, the pool is refreshing, the toilet block whilst old has spacious cubicles and is very clean (plans to demolish & re-build are in the pipeline). Beautiful trees, love the Alpine Park across the road and the road mentioned in some of the reviews I’ve read isn’t that noisy at all. Great small friendly site.

Electric grass campervan or trailer tent pitch

Liked The swimming pool initially attracted us to this site however that is the only positive remark we can add.

Disliked On arrival there was no indication of how to gain entry through the padlocked gate. Eventually a resident located the owner’s son who showed us to our pitch. He gave us verbal information but no written information was available. We asked where to empty our grey waste and were told there was no facility on site. In those circumstances we asked where we could empty and were told to drive off site and empty elsewhere! On inspecting the facilities we saw that there was only one shower in each of the ladies and gents and as the site was full this was totally inadequate. The pitch allocated to us was extremely close to the road which was particularly noisy. So much so during the day we could not hear each other when sat outside. We politely requested a quieter pitch but nothing suitable was offered. As we could not be accommodated we asked for a partial refund but this was bluntly refused and resulted in the owner being extremely rude and abusive towards us insulting our age and the value of our Motorhome (totally unnecessary and completely inappropriate.) The owner then continued to boast about being a multi millionaire with numerous businesses and attempted to verbally belittle us. This behaviour was totally unacceptable and uncalled for. He finished by telling us to leave and threatened to tow us off if we did not leave! We are pensioners who just wanted a quiet pitch. We were polite in our requests and the abuse received was shocking.

Electric grass and gravel touring pitch

Liked Really welcoming and helpful family running the site
The pool was a huge plus on a hot weekend!
Facilities were kept clean and tidy
Peaceful and quiet location (other than the odd plane from the airport, we live close to a busy airport, so it didn’t bother us)
Despite looking pretty full, there was very little noise and silly behaviours.
Plenty of space on the pitch
Our daughter loved the birds in the aviary (she wanted to bring one home)
Proximity to Snowtrax and Moors valley Country Park is a plus for us
We took a taxi to the Avon Causeway hotel for dinner, would recommend it.

Disliked No washing up facilities (would have been useful as we were in a campervan)
Only 1 shower (but that said we never had to wait to use it)
The facilities were in need if updating (but they were very clean and the owners mentioned their plans to do this in the future)

Electric grass campervan or trailer tent pitch

Liked Friendly owner Chantelle greeted us & allocated a pitch ( away from the trees as hubby has bad hay-fever) ) which was very kind. Seasonal guests we met were very welcoming so all in all a pleasant 2 night stopover.

Disliked Facilities need upgrading and a washing up area creating, upgrades planned for 25/2026 it seems.
Main road noise is deafening at times but that doesn't bother us… if you are sensitive.. be aware as it may keep you awake! Stock up on essentials as no little shops local!
