  • Traditional working farm with cider production and microbrewery
  • Friendly, relaxed atmosphere and views of the Jurassic Coast
  • Italian restaurant; tickets are extra for summer events and festivals
Fancy the sound of a Dorset farm with its own cider production and cosy restaurant – plus summer events (which you need to buy separate tickets for)? With views of the fably viewsome Jurassic Coast and Bride Valley, adults-only Bredy Farm is also close to beaches, the South West Coast Path, Bridport and Dorchester. You might fancy a pint or two of that, cheers. All these happenings are on a relaxed and friendly working farm with its own microbrewery and cider shed open to the public. It's set up for simple camping, for excellent cider and for parties, at its occasional weekend-long music events (extra charge). Guests pitch up in The Orchard or The Mead on either side of the river Bride. Facilities include running water, a basic cold-water area to wash pots and pans, three portable toilets, four composting toilets, three rustic shower units on The Mead (free to use) as well as two flushing toilets and two modern, high-quality coin-operated showers (located on the main farm). Certainly not basic are the offerings at the farm's Italian restaurant/café, which serves up plates of tasty homemade food, including proper Neapolitan-style pizzas (it's rightly popular so it's best to book ahead, especially if you're travelling in a group). In the summer months, this is a site that's buzzing with energy, with live music, DJs and a bar that's open until 2am. This means that the site is noisier and busier on weekends. Out of season and midweek, things are generally more chilled around here.

Mead non-electric grass pitch (adults only)

Liked Nice level ground. Clean and tidy surroundings
Choice of pitches in Orchard or in mead . We stayed riverside, very pleasant spot.
Bar was nice and restaurant looked good, although we didn't eat there.
Enjoyed people watching.
Beware the cider.....it creeps up on you.
Good to be able to have firepit.
Good rubbish facilities.
Good idea and use of the communal areas...bar etc.

Disliked It was made clear on website that there was a party vibe especially at weekends.
We didn't actually hear the music from the Rattleshack., but a group of younger folk who pulled an allnighter, and could be heard laughing and chatting until 5am. Plus campers retuning to pitches at 2.30 in the morning cidered up!

Orchard non-electric grass tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch (adults only)

Liked Brady Farm is a wonderful place. It is popular with all age groups. On weekends there is a DJ at the barn. The party goes on until the early hours. People at the campsite are well behaved and polite. There's a lovely atmosphere. Would definitely recommend for a weekend of fun and relaxation

Mead non-electric grass pitch (adults only)

Liked The area is fantastic and we had stayed here previously a couple years ago. Not far from the coast and the site had rustic feel about it. So we was happy to return and have a relaxing time. The main area had a barn conversion with a bar and hosted gigs and Dj's. Although there was no events on that particular weekend.

Disliked On this trip the site had a different feel to it. With a new pool near the bar raised seating area in the barn and a sandy beach feel dance floor which seemed nice. We where told when booking in that a DJ had been booked for the Friday and Saturday night. As the day went on the site quickly filled up as was expected. There was very large groups pitching up all over the site and again this was expected. We went to the bar that night to find it buzzing with campers and Dj playing. What we found unusual was the dancefloor with people dancing and their dogs running around amongst them. Also they had open firepits near the bar area which could have been disastrous for anyone intoxicated enough. Some of the bar staff appeared as intoxicated as the campers and the campsite owner seemed a little worse for wear. Needless to say we left soon after. On the second night we stayed away from the hustle and bustle and stayed at our pitch. As the evening went on it appeared the campsite owner thought it was a great idea to drive up and down the site in his ex-millitary humvee truck into the night. I presume as he had been drinking during the day that this was probably a poorly judged idea. What was a really nice relaxing campsite has left us feeling like we had attended a poorly organised rave. I presume this the only night life in Dorset.

Mead non-electric grass pitch (adults only)

Liked What a find. A fabulous find.
A quiet site midweek Adult only. Dogs on leads are welcome.
But it’s a very lively site Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Prices are per person.
Mead field you can camp in groups bring your own drink and party until 2am when the music must be off.
The site had compost toilets which were good and showers in wooden huts with gas heater so great showers with room to get dressed in.
There is a lovely pizza restaurant on the main site that also does take away pizzas with a picnic seating area behind the restaurant and a small bar.
The main bar area is amazing but I’ll leave you to discover that.
A very laid back site with a lovely friendly vibe. A nice farm shop a half a mile walk to. And an hour walk to the beach.

Disliked The Porto loos on the smaller field, I would not use, as they do not have water to flush them.

Local attractions

If you're here for an events weekend, stick around for a bit afterwards to investigate the area: take it as read that your boss will applaud your initiative. Start off by going seawards: the nearest beach and the local stretch of Jurassic Coast are about a mile away in front of Bredy Farm's local village of Burton Bradstock, leading to the famed Chesil Beach. (The award-winning Hive café dishes up seafood in Burton Bradstock too.) If it's Jurassic Coast fossils you're after, the nearby Dinosaurland Fossil Museum in Lyme Regis has piles of specimens in its collection of local Jurassic marine fossils, so meander along here to see what you can sea. More fossily remains are in the Jurassic Coast gallery at nearby Bridport Museum. Piles of other things are around Bredy Farm to see and do, such as the village of Abbotsbury and its swannery, full-size construction machinery driving at Diggerland Devon, seaside towns like Charmouth and Weymouth, and exploring old buildings like Hardy's Cottage. If you're around to shop, local town Bridport has a vintage market on the last Sunday of every month. You might also like to try more of the fizzy stuff if you're around Bredy Farm for a cider weekend, so totter off to a couple of the boozy attractions in the area, such as the tastings and tours of Bridport's Palmer Brewery, founded in 1794, and sampling the sparkling and still wines of Furleigh Estate Wines, producing Dorset wine from its base at Salway Ash.
