What customers say

This is a peaceful and welcoming campsite with a relaxed atmosphere. Visitors frequently praise the friendly and helpful owners, clean facilities (particularly the hot showers), and spacious, level pitches. It's highly regarded as family and dog-friendly, with a dedicated dog area. While most experiences are overwhelmingly positive, a few mention that the showers can be too hot, some facilities could benefit from updating, and there can be occasional noise from a nearby road.

Electric grass pitch

Liked Lovely small site with electricity available.
Well kept and friendly owners.
Laid back approach- no specific check out time made it a lot less stressful.
Beautiful skies at night
Little light pollution
Dog and child friendly
Trees for shade

Disliked The hot taps and shower are piping hot.
This made showing with children difficult and concerned about scolding because each time you pressed the shower button (felt like every 30 seconds) the temperature increased.

Could do with longer between button presses and regulated/ set temperature control.

Slightly off the beaten track- at least 30mins/ 1hour to main shops or beach.

WiFi offered but not great, phone signal on EE was slow too

From the manager: Many thanks for your review and comments. Great pictures you've added, thank you. Sorry to hear you found the showers too hot. You should have come in to see us and we would have turned them down. We can only go on what customers tell us at the time. Please don't let this put you off coming again as we would love to see you all soon

Electric hardstanding pitch

Liked Owners were brilliant and very accommodating, very polite any helpful. Site itself is a good size, level ground all over, solid plots are also really good. Toilet/shower block is close which is really good. Very quiet site which is also brilliant. Best thing is it’s open all year round, dogs are free and you can use fire pits or rent them. Small stocked shop with the basics in aswell as kids toys etc and they do ice cream which is decent.
Highly recommended

Disliked I didn’t really dislike anything to be honest but maybe only downfall is there is nothing around locally apart from diverton which is small so would suggest going to Tiverton, however this doesn’t really effect the site itself. So 5* for me!

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank yo for your comments and review. We're really pleased you had a lovely time here at Zeacombe. The ice cream certainly does go down very well. We hope to see you again soon

Electric grass pitch

Liked Spacious and well kept site. Quiet and relaxing. Facilities all kept in good order and sufficient for the number of visitors. Hosts friendly and welcoming. Small shop had supplies if you needed them. Street food van on Wednesday night was fun!

Disliked Had to drive for supermarket or pub, but small price to pay for such a good site.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your review. Some lovely comments and glad you enjoyed your stay here. We do have a shop on site that stocks most essentials but if you wanted a big supermarket then Tiverton is 10 miles away. Asda and Morrisons will deliver here if ordered in time. We hope to see you again soon

I wouldn’t go again, but do recommend it for couples.

Electric grass pitch

Liked It’s a peaceful and small camping ground, the couple who run it are lovely. But that’s all there isn’t much you can do there. I guess if you want to get away for some tranquillity and peace go for it. But not really a big one if you have small children.

Disliked The showers and washing up area including the washing machine (which was broken) need some updating but that’s not such a big let down .

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your review. We will take on board your comments with regards to the toilet block. We don't have amusements or playparks for children as we like to see them in the fresh air making friends and playing on their bikes, or playing football etc. We do have a play area where they can get together and socialise.

Electric grass pitch

Liked The peaceful quiet atmosphere on the site.
The friendly host who were approachable, eager to help and friendly. Offering advice on amenities activities and food.
The great location close to tourist sites, exmoor herds and beautiful viewpoints. Convenient location to main road to coast.
Clean bathroom and washing facilities stocked with necessary cleaning items (bowls and wash racks, washing liquid and cloths).

Disliked No designated area for children but wasn't made to feel unwelcome that the children played football on open spaces. There was a friendly compromise

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank yo ufor your review. We are so lucky to be in the middle of nowhere but in the middle of everything. Nowhere is too far and Exmoor is just beautiful.
We have created a childrens area next to the dogwalk where they can play and socialise but if we have the room and not annoying anyone then we don't mind them playing on the park. It's great to see children make friends. We hope to see you again in the future

Local attractions

Zeacombe’s local town of Dulverton is a handsome settlement between the Barle and Exe rivers, with central streets lined with boutique and gift shops, tearooms and various other watering holes and eateries. While you’re over that way, the Dulverton Circular Walk spans three and a half miles of an upstream route alongside part of the Barle valley from the town, taking trampers over Marsh Bridge and gently ascending along an ancient byway before returning back down along another byway back into Dulverton. Plenty more highly scenic hiking trails network the rest of Exmoor National Park’s thousands of acres of moorland, forested valleys and high coastal heathland. Ancient Dunster Castle a 40-minute drive away also comes with subtropical gardens home to four different microclimates, as well as a restored 18th-century working watermill among a peaceful river garden. To arrive in style, take the vintage steam locomotive carriage on the West Somerset Railway from Bishops Lydeard, 45 minutes’ drive from base, via some cracking coastal views along the way. Elsewhere, the famed north Devon surf spots of Saunton Sands, Croyde and Woolacombe are all within an hour’s drive.
