  • Old-fashioned site in Dawlish Warren with modern facilities
  • A 15- to 25-minute walk to the beach, dunes and nature reserve
  • Seven acres of grassland in a secluded setting
Old-style camping with new-style facilities, minutes from the Devon coastline and a 500-acre nature reserve stuffed with species of all sorts… You might want two weeks at least at Leadstone Camping in Dawlish Warren. This very friendly site, which has been around since 1974, is one of those where the staff do their utmost to make sure guests have as good a time as possible. Although this is a traditional and uncommercialised site, the standards are modern. Amenities stretch to a redeveloped amenities block with hot showers, toilets, basins, a hairdryer, a baby changing unit and an accessible room with a shower, toilet and wash basin. Leadstone also has a launderette, playground, washing-up facilities and water points in the pitching fields. For other supplies and food, a supermarket is a mile away. Anyone walking the 10 minutes to Dawlish Warren will find a pub serving lunch and evening meals handily placed along the way.

Badger electric grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch (large)

Liked Just how clean the whole site was and how friendly the owners and all there staff were

Disliked Having to queue up for a shower and how noisy, from the larger site , straight across the road from this site , and most of the pitches were on a slope

Badger electric grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch (large)

Liked Owners of the campsite very friendly. A well run site. Toilets & showers really good. Washing up facilities excellent & plenty of them, very clean. I was able to get gas at the site shop. Loved the singer that came on the Saturday night, great voice, great funding for McMillan charity with the raffle prize = a 3 night free stay for next year. Liked having the breakfast van on site. 👍

Disliked Nothing to dislike about the site.

Owl electric grass touring pitch (XL)

Liked Very warm welcome , much needed after the drama on route.
Spacious pitch, great location sea view , bus stop outside , easy access to costal walk, dog friendly, clean toilets and shower facilities , 20 p for 5 minute shower you can add as many 20p as required. Very reasonably priced street food , breakfasts available for several mornings a week. Candy floss £1 and sweet treats . Shop selling some camping accessories, and grocery’s. Good phone and tv signal . We was fortunate to have a singer one night while raising money for a charity . 15 min walk to Dawlish and 10 minute walk to Dawlish Warren. We also had the Sun 🌞, children’s play area . Tents , caravans and motor homes all catered for .

Local attractions

Leadstone Camping's location makes it easy to get to most of Devon's attractions and it's simple to get from the site to wherever takes your fancy. Roads are relatively quiet for most of the year apart from in high season. Dawlish Warren is a top place to be in Devon, partly for its safe, clean beach and partly for its sand dunes leading onto 500-acre Dawlish Warren Nature Reserve, a hugely popular spot with birdwatchers and botanists. On foot, walk to the Warren (it's a safe stroll and suitable for prams) or to the South West Coast Path within 15 minutes; it's also half a mile to the Exe Cycle Trail or the circular six-mile Dawlish Discovery Walk. A mile away is the Exe estuary – another top local spot and a hit for fishing, hiking, biking and birdwatching – and the town of Dawlish itself is a mile and a half away: look out for the famous black swans. Also nearby is the harbour and two good pubs at Cockwood, two and a half miles away, and golf at Starcross before taking the ferry from here to Exmouth. Shaldon, seven miles away, has another golf course and can be reached by ferry from the busy resort of Teignmouth. For towns, take off to Exminster (nine miles; more golf), Torquay (10 miles), Newton Abbot (11 miles; racecourse and ancient market), Exeter (13 miles) and Paignton (13 miles; take the steam railway from here to Kingswear and Dartmouth).
