  • Family-friendly pitches surrounded by greenery
  • Next to a bus stop with connections to Padstow and Wadebridge
  • Playground and ball games space; hot showers and wetsuit/drying area
Small but nicely formed, the pitches at The Laurels Holiday Park are interspersed with a mixture of hedges and shrubs to give guests a bit of extra privacy. The site is also next to a bus stop with connections to Padstow and Wadebridge. The essential facilities at this Cornwall site, two miles from Wadebridge, are impeccably maintained: there’s free hot water in the washing-up area and showers, plus hairdryers, a washing machine and freezing for ice packs. There’s even a special area for washing and drying wetsuits – it gets regular use given the excellent surfing and watersports nearby… Barbecues and campfires are a fab idea in a place like this, and the folk on site have made such things simple: there are firepits available to hire (only a limited number though, so booking's essential) and there's a stock of logs, kindling, firelighters and flo gas on sale too. Pint-sized visitors can mess about on the boat in the playground, which is well-equipped with climbing frames, swings and a large trampoline, plus a space for ball games. The site is also Fido-friendly, with a small enclosed area to dogs to do their business off lead.

Disliked: Not the campsites fault but the bird scarer banging in the fields really stressed our dog.

Gold electric gravel touring pitch (large)

Liked: The communication prior to arrival was really good and allowed us to make decisions and be best placed upon arrival. We spoke with Jo who was friendly and gave us some cycle pointers to reach the Camel Trail.
The site was well kept, toilets and showers were in really good clean order and a pleasure to use. Plenty of hot water and warm room with radiators.
The actual site was well kept and although early in the season it was clear it was going to be ready for further visitors into the spring.
Thank you Jo and Sarah.

Gold electric gravel touring pitch

Liked: Lovely individual pitches. Beautifully cared for. Very clean, warm toilets and shower block.
Bus stops right by the site.

Disliked: Not really a dislike but you had to drive or get a bus to go out as the site is in the middle of nowhere, on the corner where two roads meet , one of which is busy.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thanks for the great review Sarah! We are glad you enjoyed your stay, the site and the facilities.
In warmer weather, there is a footpath from the site out towards the camel trail and Wadebridge. Another route, for any time of year, takes you down quiet country lanes—it does involve crossing the main road.
We are delighted we now have a designated bus stop at our entrance to make getting around even easier.
We hope we can welcome you back.
Best Wishes :)

Gold electric gravel touring pitch

Liked: Spotless site. Well manicured private pitches. Great safe play area for children and enclosed dog area, complete with benches and pool bag bin and bags.
Laundry, with local information and bus timetables readily accessible. Bus stop right outside. Able to walk to The Camel trail across footpaths and lanes in 1.5 miles.
Two showers and three toilets and a hair dryer in the ladies, implements available to clean after use. Spotless and well thought out with hooks and dog loops outside.
Clear signage and great communication via text prior to arrival, lovely experienced owners.
Great out of season find. Will definitely be back. Thank you

Disliked: Quite close to the A39, out of rush hour, didn’t really hear the traffic though.
Be warned that Cornwall doesn’t mark all of its bus stops. Download the app and be reassured if you stand randomly on the road where you would expect to find the bus to Newquay, it stops when you put your hand out.

Gold electric gravel touring pitch

Liked: Well situated for visiting many popular places in Cornwall. There is a bus stop just outside the gate so you don’t need to move your van to travel. Buses go to Padstow and Wadebridge. You can walk to the camel Trail from the site although we didn’t get to do this during our stay. Everything was well signed and thought out. The site and facilities were spotless. Showers were just the right temperature.
Each pitch has a hedge around which will help with privacy when the site is busier in the warmer months. It also helped protect us slightly from the high winds.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Hi Leigh,
Thank you very much for this amazing review! We are glad you made use of the buses with the stop being just at our entrance.
We are also pleased you found everywhere spotlessly clean and tidy with nice, warm showers.
We look forward to your return!
Best Wishes :)

Local attractions

The Laurels is three miles from the riverside market town of Wadebridge (the bus stops right outside the site), where guests will find good eating and shopping. A little further up the road (six miles or so) is Padstow, which has TV chef Rick Stein’s famously fabulous seafood restaurants and cookery school as well as some fine surfing beaches. Boardmasters can also find ripping fun at Polzeath (20 minutes' drive), and the world-famous waves of Newquay are only 15 miles away. Fans of the Doc Martin TV series should visit the fishing village of Port Isaac (25 minutes) to see the doc’s cottage and many other pretty 'Portwenn' locations. This being Cornwall, there are oodles of interesting things to see and do – too many to list here, but to start you off: it’s only a 35-minute drive to the legendary Tintagel Castle, half an hour to the fascinating biospheres of the Eden Project, or 35 minutes to the fishing village of Boscastle. Guests could also make a day trip to Lands End (perhaps combined with a walk around the attractive harbour town of Penzance), to the National Maritime Museum and dockyards at Falmouth, or to St. Ives, to explore the colourful harbour and art deco splendour of the Tate Gallery.
