Feel at ease on every pitch at Sunset Camping, a quiet and very welcoming family-friendly campsite in central Cornwall. Located a short distance from the A30 near Redruth, this west-facing spot is well positioned to soak up all-day sunshine and has some truly lovely views over the surrounding area. Here you can watch the sun setting over the sea, take an evening stroll along the coast at Portreath's dog-friendly beach (10 minutes' drive), or relax with your pet (if you've brought one) over an end-of-day barbecue or campfire back at base. As for your days, you won't be short of options to fill them here: this centrally located site is within an hour's drive of most of the Cornish mainland, with top highlights like the Lizard Peninsula, Falmouth, Newquay, St Ives and Padstow all easy to reach. Sunset Camping is in a particularly prime location for walkers and cyclists, close as it is to the protected coastal areas around Godrevy and St Agnes (both 10 minutes), the Coast To Coast Trail and the Great Flat Lode Trail (10 minutes), steeped in attractive country views and Cornish mining history. Redruth (five minutes) is conveniently close to hand too, with pubs, cafés, supermarkets, a cinema and a railway station where you can set off on car-free day trips. Even closer to home are a dog-friendly pub, a discount supermarket and a play park (at North Country) – all of these are within a handy 10-minute stroll.

Liked: Easy to locate and drive to. Spacious pitches with EHU. Small campsite so very quiet and tranquil. Owner Cathy very friendly and helpful. Facilities basic but clean. 2 portable loos and 2 portable showers, washing up shed with the use of various items. We had a washing line on our pitch which was very useful to dry wet suits and towels. Only a couple of miles from 2 lovely beaches.

Liked: Although small, this place is very cosy and felt private. Has all the amenities you could need which were clean, also the campsite itself was clean and taken care of, and for the price it was an absolute bargain! Would happily stay again 😊

Disliked: Only thing I would suggest are some ear plugs for sleeping, especially if you are nearer the roadside of camp.

Liked: Nice and quiet as winter could chose our pitch. Clean toilets. Hot water shower. Nice view when the sun was out … simple but nice stay

Disliked: Shower very small so go in minimum possible and no light in shower so make sure to have a spare

Liked: Freindly welcome, nice size pitch, good ground for pegs, clean facilities, lovely shower, good location, heard an owl in the tree right next to my tent which I find is the sign of a good spot

Disliked: Traffic noise was a bit loud but can't be helped, a method to dry your hands in the toilets would be super.

Liked: Lovely warm welcome and nice corner pitch with garden. Wonderfully hot power showers.

Disliked: No space in portaloo shower to dress and spy holes in shower cubicle need plugging. Made me feel quite uncomfortable while showering. Bit too close to the road for me. Wasn’t offered WiFi or any kind of welcome sheet.

Delve into the local geology at Cornwall Gold and Tolgus Mill, a fab heritage centre five minutes' drive from base. From there, you might like to set off to Porthtowan beach (10 minutes), a dog-friendly seaside spot with spectacular scenery, or you could learn more about flora and fauna from around the world at Feadon Wildlife Education Centre (10 minutes). Grownup activities in the local area include the greens at Tehidy Golf Course (10 minutes) and Healey's Cornish Cyder Farm (10 minutes), where you can sample some of the West Country's top apple-based tipples. There are also wineries to explore around the Camel Trail (35 minutes), an off-road cycle route that takes in a gorgeous stretch of Cornish countryside. Got kids to keep entertained? You might appreciate being so close to Paradise Park and JungleBarn Cornwall (15 minutes), a local activity centre that's pretty sure to keep them busy. The steam trains at Lappa Valley (25 minutes) and the cute animals at the Cornish Seal Sanctuary (30 minutes) are also pretty safe bets.

Admission

At least one of the party members must be aged 18 or over.
Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Arrivals and departures

Late arrivals must notify the park as soon as possible. Your booking will be held for 24 hours. After this period the management reserves the right to relet your unit.
No refunds/discounts for inclement weather, late arrivals or early departures.
There is no reception at this site. Please check in at the farmhouse instead.
Units will be allocated on arrival.

Changes to your holiday

Bookings cannot be amended within 14 day(s) of arrival.

Dogs

Dogs must be kept on leads and supervised at all times.
