  • Family park with easy access to main Cornish attractions
  • A 10-minute drive to the world-famed surf of Newquay
  • Next to a popular pub with a beer garden
Surf! And a bar, and a beer garden – and easy access to Cornwall's famed attractions like the Eden Project 14 miles away: you might want to stay at Carvynick Holiday Park for quite some time. A 10-minute drive from the world-famed surf and the surf schools of Newquay, Carvynick is set in Cornish countryside among spectacular scenery, and centrally located for easy-drive day trips to the likes of St Austell, the Eden Project, Newquay Zoo, Bodmin Moor and the Clay Trails. In between days out exploring the local land, have an afternoon or evening in a pub run by chef Adam Handling (as this establishment is separate from the holiday park, you'll need to check directly with them for opening times and availability; it's a popular spot so booking ahead is strongly advised). Carvynick is pet friendly.

Fully-serviced hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: The size of the pitch & the view across the fields.
The friendly warm welcome from Craig when we arrived.
Easy to find.

Disliked: That everything was a little bit “tired” e.g. the post holding the water tap on our pitch, was rotten and basically on the floor.
There was no available pot washing facilities.
For a pet friendly touring park there is no dedicated dog exercise field.
Not the touring parks fault, but the amount of patrons of the pub on site who parked in pitches and even across the access to the toilet/shower block was unbelievable. We were informed this was a regular occurrence. Shudder to think how inconvenient this would be to people who’ve actually paid for a pitch.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: We were not aware of any issues with regards to the tap on the pitch, so thank you for making us aware this, we will endeavour to get the wooden post fixed.
We are sorry that it was not explained to you that there is a sink/washing up facilities in the onsite launderette.
Whilst we are a dog friendly site, we do not have a designated dog walking area. There are plenty of dog walking sites and beaches just a short distance from the holiday park.
Unfortunately, on this occasion there was an occurrence whereby patrons from the pub onsite parked on a few pitches and also blocked access to the wc/shower block. This matter has been discussed with the pub, and we apologised on their behalf for any inconvenient caused.

Unfortunately, the weekend you arrived we were closed due to unforeseen circumstances, as such we emailed you your booking in information. There was also an emergency contact number provided should you have needed to contact us.

Fully-serviced hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: On arrival met with friendly staff.
Lovely sized pitch with nice countryside views.
Great pub on site, 10 minute walk to a local shop.

Disliked: Small toilet/ shower block, freezing cold inside (February), tepid shower water appears that no staff working at the weekend so no cleaning takes place made daily ablutions a bit unpleasant.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: We are very sorry that you did not enjoy your stay with us, Due to cold weather at the weekend the heating/ hot water was taken longer to warm up but we did have hot water running for the customers of the campsite to use. If there was a problem we do have an out of hours phone number you could of used and there was members of staff on site.

Fully-serviced hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: The park is perfectly situated for exploring Newquay and surrounding areas. Shower blocks were clean and spacious. The park is surrounded by lovely scenery.

Disliked: When we arrived it was really difficult to find the pitch due to very poor lighting. When we did find it there was someone parked up and connected to the electric hook up, so we ended up using the one next to it, which wasn't a problem. When returning to the pitch the next night cars were parked in the pitches and my other half had to go over to the pub and find the owner so we could park up. More lights and better signage and this would be a perfect pitch up stay.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: We are sorry to hear that you felt the lighting was inadequate, this is something we can look into along with the signage. With regards to someone from the pub parking on your pitch, we can only apologise, and we have discussed with the Pub the on-going issue. Thank you for your review.

Local attractions

The surf, sands, harbour, shops, restaurants and nightclubs of Newquay are a 10-minute drive from Carvynick Holiday Park, along with many surfing professionals in the town's surf schools to give lessons if you want to give it a go. A more relaxed vibe can be had in Cornwall's other fishing towns and villages like Padstow, Mevagissey, Fowey and St Ives, all with smart shops, arts and craft outlets, restaurants and cobbled streets. From any town, the spectacularly scenic walks of the South West Coast Path are easily reached, while if you want a more challenging hike the moorlands of Bodmin are an easy drive away. If you're cycling, pedal the Camel Trail from Bodmin to Padstow or along St Austell's clay trails a few miles from the site; bike hire for all sizes is available at both. The famed Eden Project is 14 miles away, and it's also easy to get to a wide range of family attractions like The Flambards Experience, Dairyland, Crealy Great Adventure Park, the Blue Reef Aqarium and Waterworld.
