  • Cornish glamping with spectacular views, half a mile from Polperro
  • Hammock, picnic bench, outdoor seating and firepit on each unit
  • Eco-friendly with solar power, natural spring and wildlife pond
What a smashing little site is West Kellow Yurts in Cornwall, 10 minutes' drive from Looe and set on a hillside between Polperro and Lansallos. (Before you read any further, so look at the site pics…) You might dither over deciding your fave feature of this scenic setting: the splendid countryside and sea views (really, look at the site pics), or the thoughtful touches put into the glamping accommodation placed on a nine-acre field of an organic farm. Want your own hammock to sway gently in the Cornish breeze by day or look at the stars by night? A campfire tripod, Dutch oven, barbecue and kebab stewers on each pitch? Own personal picnic bench and outdoor seating area for communal banquets? Done, done and done. Matt and team have set everything up here so guests can start seriously relaxing the minute they arrive: a welcome pack will await and all accommodation has kitchen areas and an outdoor firepit. There's also a well-equipped communal kitchen on site with gas hobs, fridge freezer, microwave and coffee room, in the amenities block which comes with a luxury and modern wetroom with toilets and hot showers. Also on site, wanderers will find a most pretty wildlife pond – again, have a look at the site pics…

Barn Owl yurt (four person)

Liked: The site was perfect! Peaceful, with plenty of space.
Penny the Manager and her husband Adam really make the place, they were friendly and helpful.

Disliked: The attitude and cleanliness of the chap in the food wagon. He was rude to us at one point and didn’t use gloves when serving the food.

Barn Owl yurt (four person)

Liked: First time in a Yurt, for my daughter and I. Directions perfect. The yurts are cleans, tidy and above expectation. Roomy, comfy everything you need.
The kitchen area was clean, tidy and very well stocked with all essentials. Showers were basic BUT clean and with hot water, hot water was any time of day, showers and kitchen.
There is a communal area to eat, this again was clean and very spacious
The yurts are very spread out, you can meet people if you want to, but you can be very private, there was a young child on the site, I actually didn’t hear her as she was on the other side.
There is a local farm that sells eggs near by.
Someone on site if you have any questions. Or the owner is a call away.

My daughter fell in love with Yurt life

Disliked: There was nothing to dislike, if you like Yurts, you will love this space.

Local attractions

The narrow winding streets of the village of Polperro, a half-mile walk across the field and down a lane from West Kellow Yurts include several pubs (four with beer gardens) which often have live music and performances in the summer months. If you're in Polperro in June, potter along to the Polperro Festival; if you're in village any other time of year, potter along to the Polperro Heritage Museum of Smuggling and Fishing (aarrr): you may already know that both snuggling and fishing have their place in Cornish history… There's loads more to see within easy driving distance from your hammock whether you want a secluded cove, popular surfing spot, the walks of the South West Coast Path or well-known Cornish attractions like the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan, both nearby. Looe and Fowey, both harbour towns, are 10 and 20 minutes away respectively; Fowey via the passenger ferry from Mevagissey. At Looe, look for the trawlers on the quay (pic alert) and take a boat trip out from the beach to spy the sharks – you can hike the 12 miles of the South West Coast Path from here to Fowey if you fancy it… Or get riled up at Adrenalin Quarry at Menheniot, 'throwing people off cliffs since 2009', where you can also zoom over the lake in a zipwire and take the Giant Swing ride – extra stomach possibly required.
