  • Friendly West Sussex campsite with handy indoor space
  • A 10-minute drive from Selsey and Chichester
  • Indoor 'beach' area with sandpit, books and games
Find your new happy place at Creative Camping, an aptly named campsite close to the West Sussex coastline. Located midway between Selsey on the coast and the historic city of Chichester, this laidback spot is a top pick for families and friends looking for a getaway somewhere just that little bit different. As well as the well-maintained pitches and green outdoor area, Creative Camping has a spacious indoor area for guests to enjoy. Come and relax on the indoor 'beach', sit back on one of the comfy chairs, let the kids play in the sandpit or take your pick of the games and books on offer. The indoor space also has a lounge and dining area, a kitchen with sinks, two toilets, two showers, a changing room and a baby changing table. When you spend time outside, you'll appreciate the site's quiet location away from the road and the natural feel of the place – sit back and relax and it's quite likely that you'll see birds of prey flying overhead. Dogs are welcome here and there's easy access to footpaths in the local area for their walks. The sensible use of open fires and barbecues is allowed, and guests can make use of the site's big barbecue and pizza oven. Handily, Sidlesham village centre, where there is a pub, is about a quarter of a mile away to the north.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked: Good sized pitches and a friendly welcome

Disliked: Other campers children around our caravan, toys left strewn around. Access to site poor, especially when leaving. Nasty dip to road and caravan ground out at the rear when leaving

Liked: The atmosphere, the uniqueness of the site, the facilities, including the open air shower. The pitch size is fabulous and they have fire pits and bbqs to borrow and wood you can buy if you don't have your own There is also lots for families including pedal go karts, a sandpit and indoor area where they can play. Just brilliant, we loved it.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked: Everything. This site is great for children, the location is good, the site was always clean, the extras like the indoor sandpit and outdoor toys are a great addition, the additional activites that you can pay for are well worth it and if you don't enquire you really do miss the magic inside the greenhouse. The log and kindling package are value for money. We will be returning.

Disliked: Nothing about the site but other parents if you do visit please ensure you put the toys back and watch what your children are doing.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked: Clean facilities and hot showers. Unusual family site with lots of toys for children to use. A large place for children to play. We were late and the lady was very pleasant when we arrived.

Disliked: We are older and we were next to some campers who played music till 1:30 am. I felt I couldn't approach them as they were drinking and I felt unsafe to challenge them. We left with intention of not returning. My husband messaged host to see if they'd moved on, they had. Our second night was relaxing and quiet.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked: Could be one of our all time favourite sites.
Lots to do for kids.
Attention to detail excellent, so well thought out
Had a highchair available for the baby - I have never seen this at a campsite before (plus lots of other furniture, firepits etc.)
Lovely indoor area with seating, kitchen, kids play area
Lovely hosts
24/7 shop/petrol station next door

We will be back, and for longer, when we have nowhere to be so we can spend more time making use of the site!

Disliked: Not cheap - but worth it
Next to a road so a bit of noise but can't help that. Didn't bother us. Just trying to find anything to mention!

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked: Kym was very helpful and accomodating. Arrived early evening and ground was very boggy. She gave as a fenced off area where our dog could run around and quickly got us hooked up (some electric points have normal plug. Kym provided extension for us). Everything you could need was on site and I can imagine during high season, any children visiting would love the bikes and trikes and other activities on offer. Very peaceful despite being just off a road.

Local attractions

There are all sorts of coastal corners you'll want to explore while in West Sussex, from the wildlife haven wetlands of RSPB Pagham Harbour (five minutes' drive) to the cheerful seafront at Selsey (10 minutes) or the sandy stretches of West Wittering (15 minutes). Slightly further afield, it's easy to get to other maritime spots, whether you fancy a day trip to the seaside resort and pleasure harbour at Littlehampton (30 minutes) or want to walk around the historic dockyards of Portsmouth (30 minutes). Jaunts to the bright lights and vintage shops of Brighton (an hour and 10 minutes) are also on the cards if you fancy a really special day out. There's also much to see and do inland locally, with many of the prettiest parts of the South Downs National Park just a short drive away. While you're in the area, make sure to check out pretty historic country estates like Arundel Castle (25 minutes), and if ancient history's your thing you can make tracks for the mosaics and columns of Fishbourne Roman Palace (15 minutes).
