Ever dreamed of running off to a cabin in the woods? Well, now here’s your chance to try it out… hidden away up a long bridle track in the West Sussex countryside is Pondfield Farm, where a single secluded cabin sits in a lovely spot surrounded by woodland, with views out over fields, a glade and a pond. The setup here is simple rather than super-fancy, but it’s got everything you need for a cosy break and some time spent out in the fresh air. Inside the cabin are a double bed, a sofa bed, a shower room and a small kitchen with fridge, microwave, cooker, kettle and toaster. A woodburning stove (with firewood provided) keeps things warm inside, and there are power sockets and wifi to help you keep in touch with the modern world (if you want to…) Outdoor time is sorted too, as there’s a barbecue, a firepit and a covered dining space for meals with a view over the pond. If you’d rather eat out (or just head out for a pint), you can get to the local pub in the village of Slinfold with a 20-minute walk across scenic farmland. Lots more footpaths and bridleways are around the local area too, so it’s easy to find good places for walks and mountain bike rides. And where might one find this lovely little spot? Well, despite the completely rural outlook, it’s actually only 10 minutes' drive from Horsham – that means easy access to amenities like shops and restaurants as well as all the countryside antics.

Liked: Our Bella Tent Yurt was perfect! We had everything we needed from fresh, clean sheets to a big fire pit! There was plenty of outdoor seating and the location was beautiful, and private. Julian was an excellent host and we will definitely stay again.

Liked: Single mum with 11 and 14 year old. Absolutely loved it. Children back to being children. Marshmallows on the fire pit. Beautiful scenery. Accommodation bigger than expected with everything and more, that you need. So cosy at night X

There are plenty of local footpaths to take a stroll along nearby (and you're welcome to bring a dog along if you like), but if you'd like to roam further afield, it’s handy to note this location is in between the South Downs National Park, the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the High Weald AONB (so that's a whole lot of lovely walking/biking territory to explore). For strolls on a smaller scale, head to The Hannah Peschar Sculpture Garden (15 minutes’ drive), the gorgeous grounds of Wakehurst (half an hour) or the pretty paths of Leonardslee Lakes & Gardens (20 minutes). The excellent Huxley's Birds of Prey Centre and Gardens (15 minutes) is also close by if you’d like to take in a flying display. If you’d like to swap the country air for some sea breezes, set forth for Worthing (half an hour) or Brighton (45 minutes), both of which have piers, beaches and chances to eat fish and chips with a sea view.
