  • Basic, quiet and dog-friendly site half an hour’s walk from Arundel
  • South Downs Way 10 minutes’ drive; Goodwood Motor Circuit 20 minutes
  • Next door to a pub-restaurant; 10 mins’ drive from West Sussex beaches
Fond of a fuss-free but peaceful setting with plenty to do in the local area? Maynards Caravan and Camping Park should certainly fit the bill. Simple, clean and tidy, this site has toilet and shower facilities and is 10 minutes’ drive from the West Sussex seaside. It’s also just half an hour’s walk away from Arundel, a pretty market town with museums, galleries, restaurants, cafés, a lido, cathedral and a castle largely rebuilt in Victorian times. All that is handy to have close by, whether you want a lazy day of café-hopping or an afternoon packed with sightseeing. Keen to go hiking too? Maynards is around a 10-minute drive from the South Downs Way, where you can walk for miles and miles through spectacular countryside. If you don’t want to cook when you get back from your days of adventuring in West Sussex, it's very handy that this site is next door to a pub with a restaurant. It’s also about a 15-minute walk from a convenience shop, café, takeaway and Arundel Brewery.

What customers say

This is a friendly, basic campsite with a great location near Arundel, offering level pitches and convenient electric hook-ups. Staff are frequently praised for their warmth and helpfulness. Facilities are generally clean and functional, though some visitors note they are dated and could benefit from updates. Proximity to the Beefeater pub is a bonus. While some experience noise from the nearby road, many find the site peaceful and good value.

Electric grass tent pitch

Liked The campsite was in a great location. It was a nice flat site with plenty of room to pitch our large family tent. The family running the site were absolutely lovely and so accommodating! The showers were hot and the toilet blocks were very clean. It was overall a quiet site with only occasional sounds from the road. We even saw deer in the field behind! We look forward to returning.

Electric grass touring caravan pitch

Liked The site is well located behind a beefeater pub, which was well run an the food was more than satisfactory for the money, very relaxed site owners, and Woody's pizza van turned up on the Saturday night (smelt devine) but we had booked at the pub!

Disliked Only 5 amp on the electric hook up, so forget hair dryers ect, and the chemical toilet disposable area has a lot to be desired! No flush or running water!

Electric grass touring caravan pitch

Liked Me and a friend booked this site last minute to go sea fishing. It’s a great small chilled out site in a brilliant location it’s a 5 minute walk from Arundel centre and a short drive to Chichester harbour where we had booked a boat for fishing. The weather has been amazing, it was also Goodwood festival of speed so groups of lads sat outside late as did we and everyone was very respectful and kept the noise down. When following the satnav pull into the beef eater car park look right and you will see the sign for the caravan/camping site.
100% will be back. 👍

Electric grass tent pitch

Liked Nice and quiet. Good size pitches. Good location.

Disliked We didnt know where the owners were when we arrived.
We ended up knocking on the Lodge house to be told they live in the first caravan. Showers were disgusting one was out of order (there are only two to start with). The other was flooded. The toilets smelt. The sinks drain straight into the trough below. The mop and bucket was disgusting. It was the same water when we arrived until we left. The hand dryer was out of order, and a towel was provided. We were there Thursday to Sunday, and it hadn't been changed once. Maybe provide paper towels at least its more hygienic. This was just the ladies toilets and showers. The so-called sinks to do your dishes in were filthy. One of the sinks was being used as the drain for the washing machine. The disabled toilet was being used as the owners storage with all sorts in including golf clubs. The Biffa bins were overflowing, we witnessed the owner jumping up and down in the bins to make more room. The worst one as if all of that wasnt bad enough the chemical disposal for camping/caravan toilets was like a nightmare. It was filthy deep in excrement no running water to wash the cassettes out or to clean where you had just emptied. The owner told us to use one of the taps on the pitches that is used for filling your kettle etc. We have never experienced anything like it.

Electric grass tent pitch

Liked Walking distance to Arundel. The wooden picnic table.

Disliked Hard to find - no signage on street, found it sitting inside the campsite entrance next to the overflowing dumper bins. No obvious checkin - found the owner/manager inside her caravan when we went to enquire how we checkin. Fridge, washing machine, hand dryer in women's WC all out of order. Showers have no curtain, you step out into an ankle deep puddle of water which does not drain away. Place generally scruffy and dilapidated - inside or out. Tent camping sitea all on slight slopes and/or with dips. No WiFi. Nowhere to charge phones etc.

Electric grass tent pitch

Liked Nice level field with plenty of EHU and water points. Large pitches and no long list of rules. Great location - 10 minutes walk from the station and about 20 minutes in to Arundel. Enjoyed our stay and would return.

Electric grass tent pitch

Liked This small, tidy and friendly campsite hosted us for 2 nights in June 25.
Our stay was comfortable with the flat grass pitches with electrical hook ups. The showers and toilets were very clean and look like they've been recently revamped. The building itself is quite dated, but they've done a good job and the most important thing to me is that they're clean! Every toilet had plenty of toilet paper- and was kept topped up and each basin had its own handsoap
The lady running the site was welcoming, relaxed and friendly.
The campsite is very close to Arundel train station, just a 5-10 .minute walk. Beautiful surroundings, wetlands and Arundel castle etc.
We very much enjoyed our stay.

Disliked Not much to dislike really but at a push I'd say the ladies toilet hand dryer was broken and a towel was provided- i didn't like the idea of sharing a hand towel and would suggest paper hamd towels instead.
We'd read about previous reviewers complaining about the sound of the nearby motorway- yes, you can hear cars but it honestly wasn't bad at all. The birds and nature made more noise at dawn than the traffic did. I didn't need to use my earplugs that I'd packed.
The signage and directions to the campsite were a little confusing- google.maps takes you to the hotel / pub carpark (next door) and it isn't overly clear where to go. However we just asked someone who helped us find the entrance. I'd suggest using WhatThreeWords and adding this to booking confirmation or the Google listing to help solve this.

Electric grass touring caravan pitch

Liked Very peaceful site. reasonably level site great position and a very warm welcome

Disliked I understand that this site has recently been reopened and things are happening to bring things up to date so this is my honest opinion. The chemical toilet disposal is quite honestly the worst I've ever seen with no flush or even a working hose pipe it was several inches thick in excrement.
The urinals didn't look like they have been cleaned in years with black mould in all 4 of them. The toilet block and showers all desperately need updating although the walls have been painted. I feel instead of adding a pod money would of been better spent to update the basics.
I'm hoping that the lovely people running the site address the chemical disposal as a matter of urgency.
