  • Cosy shepherd's hut on a family farm in the Kent Downs
  • A 25-minute drive to Canterbury; 35 minutes to Dover and the coast
  • Private garden, toilet and kitchenette; pub 10 minutes' walk
You’re bound to get a friendly welcome when you turn up at Jemima Hut at the Farm – although the hut herself sits in a peaceful private garden area, she’s got plenty of company all around from the chickens, sheep and donkey that also reside at this family-run farm in the Kent countryside, 25 minutes’ drive from Ashford. There’s just the one cosy hut at this site so you’ll have plenty of peace and privacy while you’re here. A picnic table and bench have been provided to help you make the most of the fresh air and views, and there’s space to spread out a sunbathing towel too. Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife while you relax here – you’ll often see deer trotting about in the field, or spot rabbits, badgers and pheasants scurrying about in the undergrowth. This isn’t a place where the owners have tried to cram everything into one space – instead, Jemima has been kept as a cosy sleeping area (with log burner and kingsize double or two single beds) while the amenities sit in two separate huts. The Door Mouse houses the kitchenette (with a small fridge/freezer, kettle and cutlery/crockery), and next door the Birds Nest has the sink and toilet. A couple of torches and a disposable barbecue are also provided. A location within the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty means this is a great area for a walk – you can stroll around the farm to the pond and woodlands, head out to local villages or get to the local pub (10 minutes’ walk away). And it also means some great stargazing by night too, so make sure you bring warm clothes along for evenings out under clear skies.

Jemima shepherd's hut

Liked: Hosts were really nice and helpfull🥰Facilities clean and you have everything you might need, wood for fire was provided same as coal for bbq..The nature was amazing and peaceful as we wanted as camping parks can be very crowded and loud, so we enjoyed every second of our stay. Jemima shepherd's hut

Liked: Everything. It was so peaceful and perfect for want I wanted. Vanessa was very friendly and welcoming, as we're the gorgeous dogs. The fire put was perfect for sitting out in the evening, and as it was a little chilling I lit the stove in the hut and was toasty in no time.

Disliked: Bed was a little on the hard side.
