  • Adults-only Kent countryside site with a friendly atmosphere
  • Dog-friendly site with fenced-off exercise area
  • Immaculately maintained heated amenities block
'Top of the range', 'luxurious' and 'immaculate' are a few of the accolades heaped upon the amenities at adults-only Still Acres Touring and Camping Park by grateful guests: if an essential part of your hol is sparkling and modern essentials, you'll be well set up here. But there's more. Partly because the owners of this warm and friendly family-run site in the midst of Kent know their stuff (including having a fully certified caravan repair and service technician on site to help out with problems) and partly because of the site's setting: Still Acres is just outside Wealden village, with easy access to Kent's beaches, castles and many historic houses – if you're happy to go a bit further you could even venture to la belle France (Dover is a little over an hour's drive away). The site is on 28 acres of scenic and flat grassland with two acres set aside for guests; dogs are most welcome too and have a two-acre fenced off area for off-lead frolics (with water to keep them cool and benches for their owners to have a rest on). You're very welcome to take walks (with or without a dog) around the rest of the site as well (dogs must be kept on leads and mess picked up). And as for the accoladed amenities? The shower block on site is centrally heated, with disabled toilets and powerful showers and hand dryers – and all is immaculately maintained by the Still Acres team.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: A lovely site run by caring people. Some of the best facilities we’ve come across with hot showers that you don’t have to keep pressing to keep them going. Proper, solid doors too. Well-run, clean and tidy pitches and great walks for those with dogs in an area close to so many historic buildings and places of interest. Our grateful thanks to Tod for making us feel very welcome.

Fully-serviced grass touring pitch

Liked: Loved this adult only site, the owner was extremely friendly and helpful and the site itself was spotlessly clean and well kept. The shower/toilet block was probably the cleanest we’ve ever seen with proper thermostatic bar mixer showers with 24hr radio 2 I believe being gently played through the speakers, they were warm and clean (my only ask would be to maybe add some hairdryers if possible) there were plenty of bins everywhere and the site being dog friendly was also a great added bonus. The off lead field for the dogs to run In was great with nice benches and a covered area if the typical British rain came, we were fortunate enough to have glorious weather all weekend. A fairly small site but perfect for us.

The Pitch-Up review of the site did say that the pitch we booked had a fire pit and a picnic bench and it had neither but the sites own website did not mention this so I put this error down to Pitch-Up not the site, it wasn’t needed by us but this should be looked at and rectified.

We will most definitely return this year.

Local attractions

Still Acres Touring and Camping Park is most niftily located in a central position to some of the most popular Kent attractions, gardens and beaches, so pack a picnic and set off for the day to see what you can see. Castle fans (everyone should be a castle fan) have a few famed attractions in the area to pick from: the Still Acres team reckons that Leeds Castle, with 500 acres of parkland and formal gardens, daily activities and free flying falconry displays, is one of the best days out in Kent. You could/should also get along to Chiddingstone Castle, set in 35 acres of grounds including a lake, rose garden and woodland, and with the collections of Denys Eyre Bower who owned and lived at Chiddingstone between 1956 and 1977. Dover Castle, set above the famed white cliffs, and Tonbridge Castle, dating back to the eleventh century, are also popular castley Kent picks. More old buildings? See also Georgian Belmont House and Gardens in Throwley, near Faversham, and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Canterbury Cathedral, St Augustine's Abbey and St Martin's Church.
