What customers say

This peaceful campsite offers well-spaced pitches and good facilities, including a popular on-site barn serving food and local drinks. Guests praise the friendly staff, beautiful surroundings, and excellent location for walks and exploring the Kent countryside. However, some visitors reported issues with cleanliness, particularly in the communal kitchen and toilets, and noted a lack of amenities for standard tent camping. Inconsistent provision of bedding for children in glamping tents was also mentioned.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked The Barn bar with own cider and wine. Generous self pitch size. Very green.

Disliked The communal fridge could be cleaner. There was no food there and didn’t feel like it was working.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Lovely peaceful campsite, it's quite a small field with just a few pitches that are really well spaced out so you get your own space, the field also has great facilities!
We absolutely loved our stay here and felt so relaxed. The barn is brilliant with lots of local wine and beer options, and the staff are so lovely and helpful. Had breakfast at the barn on our last day and it was delicious with both meaty and veggie options. No WiFi in the field which we quite liked but have the option to use at the bar if needed. We really want to come back soon, thanks so much!

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked The barn looked lovely, although we didnt eat or drink there ,staff were pleasant
I had emailed them that I had a tent that might be too big for the pitch. They kindly gave me another pitch free for this visit
We could hear the monkeys at howletts zoo at night

Disliked On arrival we were told to park in the car park and take our tent and bits in rickety wheelbarrows. Only 2 for the whole campsite .only 2 toilets which were dirty . One had empty hand soap and no paper . 2 showers . I alerted the staff and they were cleaned
Kitchen area was not clean . Refuse bins wernt emptied
This campsite is only available at weekends so it should have been clean and ready
Grass desperately need a cut

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Very lovely facility’s and the people was outstanding. When we arrived we was welcomed by a smiling face. Which goes along way for us. He couldn’t have been more help. His name was max. We love camping we either go as a family as we have 2 children or for a weekend away just 2 of us. We would recommend this place. The food was lovely we ate pizza and had drinks and in the morning we had a lovely breakfast and coffee was well worth the stay. We will deffo be back many thanks

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Lovely surroundings for the camping field and the barn was very rustic which was nice. Staff in the barn were polite but a little bit disorganised.

Great to hear the noises from howletts zoo in the morning as well, made it feel a bit more like a safari!

Disliked Got there and gent I spoke to wasn’t a fan of pitchup which immediately didn’t fill me with confidence. Was given slightly vague direction to where I needed to go rather than being shown, I guess he was understaffed which I can understand. Was told I could unload my belongings onto a wheel barrow to trudge to the other end of the field (we were the only campers in it), but when we got there the wheelbarrow wasn’t there. Unpacked our belongings and setup the tent and then had a Quick Look in the camp kitchen, which wasn’t particularly clean and the bins were full. Tried to use the toilet but they and the showers were locked so had to go all the way back to reception to ask for them to be opened.
Staff member kindly organised the wheel barrow and someone to clean the kitchen and empty the bins. Went to use the shower but the one they had unlocked had no water supply so had to ask the boy emptying the bins if he could sort it out, which received a bit of a sarcastic response which I wasn’t best pleased about.

It seems to me the place is catered more for the upper middle class with money for the “glamping” rather than the rest of us bringing our own tents and being left to fend for ourselves. Maybe they need to just plain focus on the glamping or make an actual effort for the standard camping as well rather than it being half assed and pushed to the side?!

Bell tent

Liked Location is fantastic, food and drinks from the barn are great.

Disliked The beds need some attention!! Other glamping set ups have much better beds, this wasn’t much better than pitching your own tent and sleeping on a very thin camping mattress. It was a shame as all the bedding was lovely. Our friends have since stayed and said the exact same thing.

Bell tent

Liked Location, facilities were clean, kindness of staff, woodfire pizza, breakfast.

Disliked The tent fabric had lot of mould which I believe is not nice to breathe, we had a baby with us and we weren’t happy about it. The bell tents are lovely and comfortable but they should be cleaned from the mould

This is the time to pick up a new hobby, such as golfing at the Canterbury Golf Club and Driving Range (five minutes' drive) or critiquing art at The Beaney House of Art and Knowledge (15 minutes) and Turner Contemporary (40 minutes). If it’s the old, historic sort of thing that sparks your interest the most, you might want to pay a visit to Canterbury Cathedral (15 minutes) and medieval Sandwich (25 minutes). As for those of you who haven’t had enough of the wine and cider sampling opportunities on site, what’s thought to be Britain’s oldest brewery also runs brewery tours – it’s called Shepherd Neame Brewery (25 minutes). While you’re thinking about sipping or dining on fine things, what about some Whitstable (25 minutes) oysters too? If all that tasty stuff has you wanting to get active, you could cycle some of the Viking Coastal Trail between Margate (40 minutes) and Joss Bay (40 minutes).
