Little Lynton Acres

Large grass pitches
Good grass pitches next to the small woodland play area.
Plenty of space around the field
Lots of space to spread out

  • Peaceful site in the Kent Downs, 20 minutes' drive from Canterbury
  • Within a half-hour drive of Dover, Folkestone and Ashford
  • A mile from country pubs; woodland walks next to the site
Folk looking for a place to flop before or after a foray to France may well find Little Lynton Acres a most handy location – it’s less than half an hour’s drive from the ferries at Dover and Folkestone, and 20 minutes or so from Ashford’s international train station linking passengers up with European cities like Paris, Brussels, Marseille, Rotterdam and Amsterdam. It’s recommended that you don’t try to move on too quickly from this spacious, peaceful site in the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, however, for there’s plenty to keep you busy nearby, including country walks, trips to the coast and days out in Canterbury (20 minutes’ drive away). Those seeking a spot to stroll can, in fact, wander straight out into the woodland just next to the site, and there’s also plenty of space around the place for kids and dogs that need a place to run about in the open air. This site is also a mile from the villages of Stowting and Stelling (and, perhaps more importantly, their pubs). Facilities at this simple park include toilets, showers, drinking water and a chemical disposal point.

What customers say

A basic, clean and friendly campsite, ideal for stopovers or short breaks. Facilities are well-maintained, and the owners are welcoming and helpful. The site offers a peaceful atmosphere and is well-located for exploring the local area. Some guests noted the limited facilities (one shower, two toilets), and narrow access roads.

Electric optional grass touring pitch

Liked Toilets clean, fridge/ freezer available to use, books etc. Handy for the chunnel.

Disliked Whilst reading the thousands of handwritten rules around the place including one on keeping your dog under control at all times I was set upon by the owners four completely out of control dogs, two of which jumped her fence and were growling aggressively at my dog who thankfully didn’t react. Dog owners beware.

From the manager: I am sorry you felt this was an issue you couldn't come to us to discuss. I do have to correct a few of your points made as they are inaccurate.
Thousands of signs...is an over exaggeration, yes there are more than we would like, unfortunately this is down to disrespectful visitors at this site, who feel for example it is ok to poo in a sink or set fire to our field. The notice about dogs applies to dogs visiting the site specifically as ours are not included in this...and these rules are there for the comfort of all guests who visit us, with or without dogs.
I had just returned home and let me dogs out for exercise and toileting which coincided with you entering or exiting the gate, they were obviously excited and run around to see who was there. The newest and youngest of our dogs was the only one who leaped over to see your dog, he then was some distance from your dog and barked as a confused puppy would do, he hasn't a malicious bone in his body. He was mistreated when we rescued him and is slowly building his confidence. Yes my other dogs were barking but from the other side of the fence and not aggressively and not out of control. I came straight over and returned them all to the house.
I did explain to you that my dog that jumped over was not harmful at all Nd I asked if your dog was ok, you replied and said that ''your dog may be aggressive'' even if mine was not.
I can only be sorry that you didn't have the best experience because as you can see many reviews disagree with your experience.
I also picked up your dogs mess after you departed from your pitch.
You are welcome.

Electric optional grass touring pitch

Liked For us this was the perfect location for a stop off before heading to Le Shuttle the following morning, but it is equally well suited to anyone fancying a few days away, or somewhere to holiday with children.

It’s a simple, no frills site, but with everything you need from a campsite.

Genuinely lovely owner greeted us on arrival, but equally there are ample instructions on the entrance gate, along with mobile numbers for contact if you were to arrive and find no one around.

The shower and toilet block is basic, but it’s clean and we had great showers.

We were especially appreciative of the dog walk straight off the site, with a paddock set aside for an off lead run…absolutely brilliant!! Also noted the woodland campfire place which is a lovely touch!

In short, we’d return in a heartbeat! Thanks for a lovely stay!

Electric optional grass touring pitch

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked We've stayed at Little Lynton Acres several times now. Facilities (shower and toilets) are always well stocked and clean. The site is generally quiet and peaceful for the perfect laid back stay. Very near to Hythe and farm shops. The owners, Kay and Chris do a great job in welcoming campers and caravanners and are always helpful.

Disliked Leaving, always.

Liked Friendly welcome. Spacious pitch. 20 mins from tunnel.

Disliked Noise after 11pm. Dog constantly barking (not from campsite). Motorbike revving and riding through field?

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked We like the location - it is very conveniently situated near Dover and Folkestone, and also has a beautiful view of the hills. The hosts are very friendly. Facilities are functional and water is really hot. Their kitchen also includes a fridge, which came in handy on several occasions.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Facilities just what you need - shower, couple of toilets, water, communal fridge/freezer, washing up area. Clearly marked pitches - could feel a bit cramped if full and lots of big tents, but equally plenty of space in the middle of the field to spread out into.

Great for children - plenty of games etc available plus woods with a swing, fairy doors and meadow to explore.

Local attractions

Craving the coast? Head to the long, pebble shores of Hythe (15 minutes' drive), an especially scenic place on a sunny day, for a bit of beach time. Kent is also a cracking spot for keen historians: visit the traditional city of Canterbury for its cathedral and Roman museum (20 minutes) or factor in a few hours for moseying around the maze and gardens at the spectacular 12th-century Leeds Castle (35 minutes). And if you're seeking yesteryear-themed tours focusing on a different era? Flit over to the Kent Battle of Britain Museum to roam among the remnants of more than 700 crashed aircraft from WWII. When travelling with tiddlers who don’t do so well during historical explores, try an animal attraction instead: critters of all sorts are scattered throughout the area, including at the Port Lympne Reserve (15 minutes), a breeding sanctuary housing rare and endangered creatures, and Howletts Wild Animal Park with its giant anteaters, African elephants and gorillas (20 minutes). Farm animals are to be seen at Druidstone Park (half an hour), which also has adventure playgrounds for the kids, while the Romney Hythe & Dymchurch Light Railway (also half an hour) is a fab family attraction whisking riders through the local countryside on an old-school locomotive.
