What customers say

This campsite offers a beautiful, tranquil location with lovely views and ample space. Visitors appreciated the well-equipped tents, communal areas, and the safety of the enclosed fields for children. The helpful owners and proximity to local attractions were also highlighted. However, some guests experienced issues with insects in the tents and found that the campsite lacked staff availability in the evenings.

Bell tent

Liked Great tent, great location

Disliked The tent was invested with bugs. Should and could have been cleaned beforehand. We were busy two hours after arrival removing them ourselves. They didn't return the next day so they were probably there a while already. Nobody at the campsite in the evening. Nobody reachable by phone

Bell tent

Liked We loved our stay at Beau & Bell. The setting was idyllic, the tent was great and we particularly liked the enclosed field & surroundings, which meant we felt we could let our kids roam around safely. The larger communal tent with sofas was a great touch. It meant all the kids had an indoor place to play and groups can gather together and also shelter from rain if needed. We'll definitely be booking again.

Wifi was limited (can be accessed in the car park area away from the campsite field) but that wasn't such a bad thing! It forced us to put our phones down and enjoy the break together.

Liked The owners were really helpful and accommodating.
The location of the site nestled in a valley makes it really quite special.
It was dark enough at night to see Perseids meteor shower!

Bell tent

Liked Absolutely lovely site. Plenty of space, beautiful views, decent amenities (communal tent, hot showers, washing up facilities) and extremely quiet. Great location near Lewes and South Downs sites. Would love to go back. Emma very helpful and responsive to my various enquiries. Thank you.

Local attractions

Bring your copy of ‘Mrs Dalloway’ if you visit National Trust - Monk’s House (five minutes’ drive, or a half-hour walk through the country), the pretty 17th-century cottage where Virginia Woolf used to live and entertain the Bloomsbury Group with her husband Leonard. In season, the garden of the house is a riot of colourful flowers. Glyndebourne (20 minutes) is known for its opera festival, which runs from May till August, staging six different productions each season. The performances come with a 90-minute interval, during which you can devour a picnic on the lawn (or visit the venue restaurant). The lure of the seaside might take you to Brighton (half an hour), where the pebble beach is a top spot for kicking back on a deckchair with some fish and chips. There are classic amusements on Brighton Palace Pier (not to mention great views of the seafront), while the elegant Royal Pavilion enchants with its opulent Indian-inspired architecture.
