  • Quiet site (no music or groups) in a rural location on a working farm
  • A 20-minutes' drive from both Blackpool and Lancaster
  • Forest of Bowland and Beacon Fell Country Park within 10 miles
You'll find reasons aplenty why this park is proving pretty popular with those seeking to pitch up in the north west: its position is pretty excellent, its vibe relaxed, and its team very friendly indeed. Poplar Grove Farm Caravan Park is a 160-acre working family farm, just 12 miles from Blackpool for those who like illuminating hols, and halfway between Lancaster and Preston for city sightseers. Even closer (and filled with pubs and restaurants), the old market town of Garstang is a couple of miles away on the River Wyre: river fishing ahoy… And for hikers, bikers and scenic view seekers, the unspoiled countryside of the Forest of Bowland and vistas of the Bowland Fells can be reached within 11 miles – or take yourself out into the surrounding Lancashire countryside: miles of walks and bike trails are all around. All guests have access to a modern toilet and shower block with facilities for washing your dog and their paws. The site also has a chemical disposal point.

What customers say

Poplar Grove Farm is consistently praised for its immaculate facilities, spacious pitches, and friendly, helpful staff. Visitors highlight the clean toilets and showers, often described as modern and spotless. The site's peaceful atmosphere, coupled with on-site amenities like a play park and fishing lake, makes it ideal for families. The presence of farm animals is a particular draw for children. While most experiences are overwhelmingly positive, a few minor points like occasional noise from other guests or the need for minor facility updates were noted, though these did not significantly detract from overall enjoyment.

Electric grass and gravel touring pitch

Liked -kids play area
-fishing
-location
-family friendly
-kids loved all the animals, especially the chickens
-milkshake farm about 10 mins down road.

Disliked The only dislike, which isn't really a dislike it was more of a small inconvenience was the vending machines were cash only and I only had card so had to go off site to find a shop because my lil lad had spotted the marshmallows in the vending and desperately wanted them.

Electric grass and gravel touring pitch

Liked We had a lovely stay at Poplar Grove, this is our second visit & we’ll definitely be returning next year! The site is completely tidy and clean & the facilities are great!
The pitches are huge in size which allow for set up of awning and outdoor seating. The park is great and our little boy spent most of his time playing on there. After an issue one night (mentioned in the dislike) the owner couldn’t be more apologetic (though not her or the sites fault!)

There is a lake/pond, live animals & chickens. The vending machines are fully stocked and there are posters around the toilet block with near by amenities/information which was really useful! I will continue to recommend this site to family/friends looking for a nice chilled out break.

Disliked This is NO fault of the site whatsoever (hopefully some parents/grandparents will consider the behaviour of their children after reading this!) but some parents do not give a hoot of what their children are up to or what they are saying - initially they play lovely but as the day/night goes on they become more feral with swearing, shouting & screaming (up until 10.30pm/11pm) our second to last night was ruined by a VERY inappropriate ask being made to our 4 year old by a kid much older than him & then during our last night another older child was incredibly naughty, shouting, hitting and pushing others & genuinely not a very nice boy, but again (the seasonal pitched) grandparents couldn’t care less despite being right next to the park/field & being able to hear him.

We haven’t let this deter us though & will absolutely return!!

Camping pod

Liked Lovely little site! Pods are clean and cosy, with the added bonus of a kettle, toaster & fridge to make meal prep easier. Fishing lakes kept my little ones occupied for hours each day. Nearby family play activities and restaurants are fab too! Would definitely visit again!

Electric grass and gravel touring pitch

Liked Could of been really nice if it’s wasn’t for all the tents
More of a family site not for couples or people who are going for quiet as advertised.

Disliked No where near a quiet site as mentioned,
Lots of tents, lots of feral children, dogs off the leads,
People walking across our pitch continuously to go to the facilities
No warden to be seen
More like butlins than a quiet site
Open skip for a bin which smelt and caused an unusual amount of wasps

Local attractions

Garstang (the world's first Fairtrade Town, food fact fans) is a few minutes' drive or two miles' walk from Poplar Grove and comes with seven pubs and three restaurants; have a duke too at the ruins of 15th-century Greenhaugh Castle overlooking the town. The village of Scorton, three miles from base, has a pub, garden centre, café, and restaurant: if you're around during the May bank holiday, roll along to the Bike and Barrows Festival and the Scorton Music Festival for wheelbarrow racing, sheep racing and other shenanigans. To the east of Garstang, the old hunting ground of the Forest of Bowland is now an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty landscaped by moorland, fells and valleys, with endless opps for walking, cycling, fell running and wildlife watching (not all at once, and look out for the hen harriers…). The Bowland Visitor Centre, with info on the area's activities and events, is in Beacon Fell Country Park. A 20-minute drive will land you at either Blackpool (south east) or Lancashire's county town of Lancaster (north), with a fair good time to be had at the former and a load of historical sightseeing available at the latter. Preston is about 25 minutes' drive south. To investigate a bit further afield, the watery wonders of the Lake District are about an hour's drive away.
