  • Plenty of activities, play areas, pool, crazy golf, arcade and bar
  • Within easy reach of the Forest of Bowland, Pennines and Lake District
You might fall over when you clap an eye on Beacon Fell View, a family-friendly park in 30 acres of landscaped parkland with rather spectacular views over the Ribble Valley. Slap bang in the middle of Lancashire, the park is conveniently placed for day trips to Blackpool but within easy reach of the Forest of Bowland, the Pennines, the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales; golf, fishing and walks are all available close by too. Firmly family-friendly, Beacon Fell View keeps a considerate eye on many little (free) touches to jazz up your break: the indoor heated pool, the table tennis, the paddling pool for little squirts and the entertainment four nights a week in high season won’t cost you a red cent. Even more enticing for exhausted parents, you can send the heirs and heiresses off to the free kids’ club while you catch a match on Sky Sports or down a drink in the adults-only lounge bar. (A family bar is available on site too.) Amenities include hot showers (also free), a covered dishwashing area and a launderette, and kids can additionally live large at the indoor and outdoor play areas, crazy golf and arcade with amusements and pool table. Pitchwise, all is level, grassy and within five minutes’ walk of reception; guests have access to water points and can park their car by their pitch. For supplies, nearby Longridge has a well-stocked farmers’ market, a couple of supermarkets, two decent pubs serving good food and – quids in again for the kids – an outdoor adventure centre with everything from water orbs to fencing.

Electric gravel touring pitch (large)

Liked: The staff were very helpful and friendly the pool was brilliant the showers and toilets were clean

Disliked: The touring pitches were awful we booked a large plot but all of the caravans were crammed in.the roads and the plots were not maintained and very uneven we had to use planks of wood to level of the van as much as we could

Electric gravel touring pitch (large)

Liked: Free soft play and bar area

Disliked: Pitches were very small despite booking a large and there were no grassed areas by the pitch.
No hairdryers
Bin areas were not emptied over a 4 day period, bins were overflowing and there were just bags of rubbish left.

Electric gravel touring pitch (medium)

Liked: The club is very nice and modern, the pool is nice enough - it needs some activities / inflatables adding to it
The park was good
I like how close everything was to the touring pitches

Disliked: Cars park next to the keypad that opens the barriers to the touring site, you have to leave your vehicle - get out and press buttons to open the barrier you can't drive next to it because of parked cars and then rush back in to your car and get through the barrier.
There was no shop.
I requested a end pitch but pitches are not assigned upon arrival.. its a free for all, the only pitches left had a banking so steep you could only go so far back, my caravn actually hung over onto the path/road where everyone walks and drives past to prevent it tipping down the banking. a ridiculous amount of raising and levelling and wood was needed.
Showers really need updating.

Electric gravel touring pitch (XL)

Liked: Tiered pitches. Good amount of space on all pitch and as not busy choice of pitch, not allocated. Swimming pool decent size, designed for swimming not necessarily young play. Small arcade. Clean. Well draining hard standing.

Electric gravel touring pitch (medium)

Liked: Location, size of the park, drinks at the bar reasonable cost. Good for local walks.

Disliked: Sunday the toilet block was not cleaned and was dirty, blocked plugs in sinks, no soap in dispensers, many soap dispensers missing, taps only come on when pressed down so hard to rinse hands properly. Not all hand dryers work, and none at all in the gents.
No pitch numbers and no markings on pitches to guide where to park.
Given wrong information about water points so we ended up filling up from an outside washing up sink at full hosepipe length, only to find at arrival on pitch there was a water point much more accessible!
Expensive when you take into account basic shower block facilities - no hooks to hang washbags or towels, no soap dispensers on sinks etc.
No food available at entertainment centre - delivery due on Tuesday! Limited menu.
Overall we were disappointed, we have stayed at much nicer touring parks for lower cost.

Electric gravel touring pitch (XL)

Liked: Access to the swimming pool

Disliked: Pitches were awfull very uneven unkept broken glass all over. Shower block is very outdated no soap to wash your hands with we were given a choice of 3 pitches to find they were already taken so ended up next to a building site with building materials just there for children to mess with just very scruffy and too expensive for what you get. Will not be returning.

Electric gravel touring pitch (XL)

Liked: There is currently a lot of construction work taking place on the touring pitches. When complete, this will certainly be good for the site.
The shared areas: bar, arcade and pool were very good - clean, fresh and the staff were very polite and welcoming.
The toilet block was always clean, the showers (although basic) were also clean.

Disliked: Not as such a dislike, but the construction of the pitches impacted our stay. The noise, dust etc. It would have been nice to have a warning about this before we booked.
However, I am looking forward to returning to Beacon Fell when the work is complete.

Local attractions

Beacon Hill Country Park and the Forest of Bowland are mere minutes away by car and both have miles of walking routes across a range of landscapes including woodland, hills and farmland. Climb to the top of Beacon Hill to see landmarks in all directions including Belvoir Castle, Lincoln Cathedral and the hills of the Peak District. Said to be the inspiration for Tolkien’s Middle Earth (which might make you want to furry foot it there immediately), the Ribble Valley has the 70-mile path the Ribble Way, shopping in towns such as Clitheroe or munching one’s way around the Ribble Valley Food Trail. The River Ribble is a big hook for anglers landing chub, barbel, trout and salmon. City day trips are in all directions too: the kids’ eyes will light up with a trip to Blackpool… and for shopping, the Trafford Centre and Liverpool One of Manchester and Liverpool respectively should empty your wallet nicely…
