  • Quiet family-run site just 15 minutes’ drive from Blackpool
  • A 20-minute drive to Preston and 25 minutes to the Forest of Bowland
  • Small and dog-friendly; pubs, shops and cafés 10 minutes’ drive away
Begin by prepping your relaxed outdoorsy outfits and perhaps some coins for Blackpool’s slots, as family-friendly Jalna Caravan and Camping is in a lush spot just 15 minutes’ drive away from the lights of Blackpool. Blackpool will likely bring to mind theme parks – the kind with wooden roller coasters and loop-the-loops, as well as those with water rides – along with amusement arcades, piers, beaches and (if you’re well-versed in the town’s ballroom history) the loud hum of Wurlitzer organ in the Tower Ballroom. All of this is only 15 minutes’ drive away from Jalna Caravan and Camping. It’s quiet in comparison at the small family-run site. Small, well-maintained and clean, and within one mile of Junction 3 on the M55, the site has been up and running for 50 years already. It has all the basic facilities, including electric hook-up, toilets and showers. Dogs are permitted on the site, but they must be kept on a lead at all times. Just down the road are a series of fishing lakes, good news for the anglers among your group. If you’re more food-focused when you’re on holiday, within 10 minutes’ drive of the site are pubs (including dog-friendly picks) and cafés in and around Elswick, Singleton and Kirkham. Get your pastries, coffees and sandwiches from the takeaways, pastry shop and coffee shop 15 minutes' walk away too. There are also two large outdoor car boot sales held regularly in the local area at weekends during the high season.

What customers say

This is a small, peaceful, and well-maintained campsite with friendly and helpful owners. Visitors frequently highlight the cleanliness of the facilities, including the toilet and shower, and the tranquil rural setting with nearby animal encounters. Its location is considered ideal for visiting Blackpool and surrounding areas. While generally praised for its value and relaxing atmosphere, some mention the limited number of facilities, particularly the single toilet/shower unit, which can be a consideration during busier periods.

Liked Everything, what a lovely site.
We were made very welcome and the small enclosed field with orchard was outstanding. Plus a mini shower/toilet - just right.

Electric grass and earth touring pitch

Liked I stayed here solo for two nights over a bank holiday weekend – many campsites require a minimum of three nights during bank holidays, but this wasn’t an issue here, which was a big plus.
The owner, David, is super friendly, helpful, and easygoing. The site itself is small and lovely – even when it was completely full at the end of the weekend, it never felt crowded or noisy, which made it perfect for a solo traveller.
I especially loved the “animal neighbours” around the campsite – they added to the charm and made the stay even nicer.
The shower and toilet facilities were spotless, absolutely no complaints there. And with a car, you can get to Blackpool really quickly, which is great for a day trip.
Overall: A small, relaxed campsite with a welcoming atmosphere and a great location. Highly recommended!

Electric grass and earth touring pitch

Liked Very peaceful site, friendly and helpful owner. Nice secluded spot. Slight background noise from M55 nearby but not overpowering

Disliked The only thing we didn't like, which isn't any fault of the site owner, is that there's no bus service through the village of Greenhalgh on a Sunday, a taxi is about £8 each way to Blackpool

Electric grass and earth touring pitch

Liked Everything about this little is amazing. It's lovely and peaceful, the owner is friendly and can't do enough for you. Toilet/shower block, although small, was always clean, and we never had much problem of someone else using the facilities when we needed to.
Definitely one of the best sites we've stayed at, in the 8 years me and my husband have been camping (tent & campervan)

Disliked The only thing I didn't like, and this was no fault of the site or owner, was there's no bus service through the village of Greenhalgh on a Sunday. No Wi-Fi but fairly good 4G signal

Local attractions

Ticking Blackpool Tower off your bucket list is one thing, but if you’re also an outdoorsy type, hiking over gritstone fells or valleys in the Forest of Bowland (from 25 minutes’ drive) will be just as much of an achievement. The Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty has riverside walks, dark skies, waterfalls and cycling paths. If you’re alright with a long-ish drive, the Lake District (from 45 minutes) is also accessible up the M6. Lake Windermere (an hour) is one of the most popular spots closest to the site. Closer to base, however, is Preston (20 minutes). The Lancashire city has a gorgeous cycling path tracing the River Ribble – and for those who want to explore more ground, the Ribble Steam Railway makes a three-mile round trip on a heritage locomotive. Lytham St Annes (20 minutes), back towards the coast, is just splendid too. Two miles south of Blackpool, the two seaside towns have a boating lake, Victorian pier and heaps of independent shops.
