Camping pod with views of the countryside

  • Luxury ensuite glamping pods in the Lake District National Park
  • A 10-minute drive to Bowness-on-Windermere; 15 minutes to Ambleside
  • Pubs and a tearoom within walking distance; communal firepit on site
Treating yourself to a Lake District glamping getaway? This pretty set of camping pods at the top of Troutbeck Valley in the Lake District National Park is a little slice of peace and luxury in a quiet setting away from the road, next to a small beck and behind the main farm steading. There’s countryside on all sides, a view of Windermere and a communal Hobbit House where guests can gather around the central firepit. All of the pods at Troutbeck Camping Pods sleep up to four people and there’s a cosy setup in store, for sure. Each pod has a double bed and bunk beds, together with an ensuite shower room with complimentary linen, towels and toiletries. Rustle up a little something using the pod’s microwave, cooker and cooking utensils. There’s wifi, a TV and sofa for any lazy morns or eves, as well as underfloor heating. If you’d like someone else to sort the chopping and simmering for you, the village has two pubs serving food (one is five minutes’ walk away and the other is 15 minutes’ walk away), as well as a tearoom. Here for lots of lush Lake District wanders? There are plenty of local walking routes, including Wansfell Pike (20 minutes’ drive), Kirkstone Pass (five minutes), Troutbeck Tongue (half an hour) and Garburn Pass (around five minutes), which heads onto High Street and Kentmere. Junction 36 of the M6 is 25 minutes’ drive away and the ‘bright lights’ (in Lake District terms anyway) of Bowness-on-Windermere (10 minutes’ drive) and Ambleside (15 minutes) are well within reach. Site owners are happy to show you around the farm if you ask too – key dates for your diary are the arrival of calves in March and lambs in April or May.

Blencathra camping pod

Liked: We had a great stay at troutbeck, the pod was lovely and clean, we didn’t expect to have any of extras that were there like the cleaning pack and toiletries so that was fab. The location was great and communication good from the host. We particularly like the communal hobbit house and the outside dining area and the grass area for the kids to play. Thanks for a great stay!
