Fancy a rural getaway – but one with lots of great attractions nearby and easy access from the motorway? Make a break for The Berries Camping & Caravan Park, tucked away in a quiet Cheshire countryside location about five minutes' drive from Antrobus. You’ll need to do just a 10-minute drive from the M56 to get to this site, which is about 20 minutes’ drive from both Warrington and Runcorn. Liverpool and Manchester are easily within an hour’s drive too – and yet you’d never know all these were nearby when you’re settled in this peaceful green spot. That peaceful atmosphere is partly down to the spacious pitches, where you’ll be able to set up all your kit and light a barbecue to cook your dinner. Picnic tables are provided for comfortable dining, and you’ll have access to handy facilities including toilets (with accessible options), a chemical disposal point and grey water drain as well as electric and fresh water hook-ups at the pitches. At the centre of the site is a large pond that’s got a few fishing spots as well as being a lovely place just to sit quietly and look out for wildlife. And if you need a few other activities to fill your days… well, you’ll have plenty of choice. The surrounding area is home to stately homes, gardens, animal attractions, theme parks and museums, not to mention the excellent Apple Jacks Adventure Farm and Arley Hall & Gardens, both five minutes' drive away. For practical matters, the closest supermarket and food pub are both about 10 minutes’ drive away.

Electric optional grass tent pitch

Liked I recently stayed at The Berries in Appleton Thorn and can’t recommend it highly enough. The location is peaceful and beautifully kept, with a friendly pub nearby for food and drinks. What really made the stay special was the owner—he went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and cared for. Even our pug, Bella, adored him! At one point she leapt into his fishpond, and without hesitation he came to her rescue with a smile. The pitches are spacious and well-maintained, the facilities are clean and practical, and the whole atmosphere is warm and relaxed. A truly lovely spot that we’ll definitely be returning to!

Electric optional grass tent pitch

Liked Great campsite, easy to find and well signposted. Quiet area and great for dark skies!
Spacious pitches with close EHU points, fire extinguishers, drinking water points and grass was well maintained with good ground for tent pegs
Toilets were clean, well lit and well stocked with toilet paper and hand towels - hand soap dispenser would be a nice addition
Good phone signal
Ben was really friendly and communication was good, I stayed with my 3 year old and he even offered to lend us a heater if we got too cold which was lovely
Ideal base for Applejacks adventure nearby.
Will definitely stay again! Thank you ☺️
